Activision and Treyarch have finally revived the zombie mode again. This mode was loved by the fans back when it first appeared in Call Of Duty: World at War. In this game mode, players have to fight through hordes of zombies with a single objective to survive. This mode was last seen in COD: Black Ops 4 before a part of its story got canceled. However this time around, it seems like develops have set a plan in their mind as they introduce newer aspects into the game while keeping some classic features as well.

COD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies story
The writers have taken a completely new path by starting a new storyline for the zombie apocalypse. This story is named ‘Dark Aether’ and the first chapter of this story is ‘Die Maschine’. Which is German for The Machine. The story seems to be very interesting and the developers have packed in a lot of clues and easter eggs for the Zombie fans to decipher.
The story is set in the 80s where the discovery of a World War 2 project “Projekt Endstation’ threatens to ignite a new arms race between nations. At the end of Black Ops 4: Aether (a zombie mode), operatives were able to lock up all the zombies into the dark aether. They made these efforts to collapse the multiverse into a singularity, however, it seems that they weren’t completely successful.
Players will be able to choose operatives from multiplayer modes as well as singleplayer mode. Some of them include Russell Adler, Lawrence Sims, and Sgt. Frank Woods. These operatives will be a part of Requiem. Requiem is a CIA backed international response team which has the objective to investigate the growing threat. As the story progresses, operatives will also face characters from the Omega Group. This is a secret organization run by the soviet union with the purpose of investigating and exploiting the unknown powers.
You can now use custom loadouts against Zombies
As mentioned earlier, the developers are bringing back some classic perks that fans loved. These include Juggernog, Speed Cola and Quick revive. Moreover, they are also introducing some new ones such as Elemental Pop which would allow you to modify your ammo in a ‘pinch’. Players will have to survive multiple waves of zombies and they can get guns in different ways in order to do so.
They are also spicing things up by introducing weapon rarities, discoverable loot, support weapons, persistent loadout, Field upgrades as well as an option to get extracted from the map alongside your teammates. Additionally, players will also be able to use their custom loadouts as well as unleash ground turrets on the zombies.

Crossgen and Crossplay
Treyarch claims that this mode will bring the whole community together as they fight for their survival. Players across different platforms and generations will be able to party up and enjoy the mode. All their progress will be recorded and added to the battle pass progress as there is a unified Battle Pass System progression in Zombies.
