It looks like the latest episode of Sony’s web shooter series Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have this cross-saves after all. The pre-orders for this new episode of Spiderman’s journey on PS4 just went live. Obviously, the first question that fans asked before ordering the game was, Will it have cross-platform saves. A lot of people worldwide are currently waiting for PS5 to launch commercially. It makes sense for them to ask if they are not investing in something that will get obsolete in a few months.
To make matters worse Sony has also been notoriously silent about their releases from the start. Sony and Insomniac Games released news of the remaster of the original Spider-Man for PS5 recently. Not only do you have to pay for the remaster if you already own the game there also some other catches. Apparently, the remastered Spiderman does not have support for previous saves while the Miles Morales sequel does.
Insomniac confirmed this via twitter that the Spiderman remastered on PS5 is a completely different game. You will have to buy it separately and it will not work with your PS4 saves. However, recently they explained the new Miles Morales game will continue where you left it off on PS4 if you buy the PS4 version right now.
You will be able to transfer your save yes!

Sony also has some pretty weird game bundles as well. Since there is no upfront way to get remastered Spiderman on PS5 fans can only get it in a bundle. Insomniac explained that if you purchase Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4 you can upgrade that game for free on PlayStation 5. Then, you can get Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for the additional twenty bucks. Or you can purchase Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, which includes the remastered original game for an extra $20.
The Game Upgrades:
Another thing to keep in mind is that while Miles Morales will also launch on PlayStation 4. The Deluxe Edition of the game will not. Therefore, while Miles Morales is a cross-gen title (and you get the PS5 version for free if you own the PS4 version) you will have to get the Deluxe Edition version on PlayStation 5 to get Spider-Man Remastered.
On one side Xbox is bringing features like Smart Delivery to their platform while on the other Sony is making these decisions with their developers. There should at least be an option for existing name owners to upgrade at a lower price instead of buying the game again. The remaster does have some promising feature improvements such as faster load times and ray tracing, as well as a brand-new trophy list. That still does not justify Sony’s refusal to upgrade the game.
In addition to the save games and console upgrades Insomniac also revealed some new game details. Ther are a few things that come as bonuses with pre-order of this game. With the pre-ordered copy of the game. You get two exclusive suits – a white T.R.A.C.K. suit and a to-be-revealed second outfit. There is also early access to the Gravity Well gadget, and three extra skill points.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch for PS4 and PS5 on November 12. Pre-orders are available now. The game offers some pretty exciting visuals and storylines as we saw in the trailer. As for game bundles and upgrade options Sony might come up with some other option after the launch.
