Recently Shark Conservation nonprofit organizations have been receiving lots of donations and this has all happened because President Donald Trump is terrified of sharks and hopes “they all die”. This statement of Trump has spiked up the funds at the nonprofits Atlantic White Shark Conservancy and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

When In Touch Weekly interviewed an adult star, Stormy Daniels in 2011 who alleges to have had an affair with President Trump in 2006, she told the magazine about a strange evening which she spent with him in a Beverly Hills hotel room, she says:

“The strangest thing about that night — this was the best thing ever. You could see the television from the little dining room table and he was watching Shark Week and he was watching a special about the U.S.S. something and it sank and it was like the worst shark attack in history. He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, ‘I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.’ He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know.”

The organizations have received many donations who specifically mentioned remarks about Donald Trump, one donation to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society came with the comment “Because Trump.” Another one said: “Contribution to save the Sharks after reading the article ‘Trump hopes sharks die,’” Zorianna Kit, media director for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, tells The Verge.

It can be a tough job to raise funds for an animal which most people fear. Nearly 100 million sharks are killed annually and most of them are sacrificed just to make the shark fin soup. This is really terrible as when the fins are removed the shark is unable to swim, the live animals are thrown back in the ocean where they drown to the bottom and get eaten by other sea animals.

Last year Donald Trump made headlines when he ate Shark fin soup in Vietnam which is apparently banned in the United States. He also tweeted about sharks back on July 4, 2013, which said,  “Sorry folks, I’m just not a fan of sharks – and don’t worry, they will be around long after we are gone, Sharks are last on my list – other than perhaps the losers and haters of the World!”

Sharks are an important part of our ecosystem, they play a vital role in keeping the prey population in check and the ocean healthy. If the sharks become extinct it will eventually devastate the oceans of the world and thus it will disturb the whole ecosystem. This is something that we all need to be concerned about.

This sea animal just has a bad reputation, there have been more deaths annually by the lightning strike than shark attacks. There has been an average of six deaths per year over the past decade which is quite a low number considering billions of people swim in water each year.

“It’s actually more dangerous to play golf than it is to go swimming in the ocean with sharks,” says Watson.
