Sony has been going on and on about the special reveal for The Last of Us 2 and some other surprises from PlayStation Worldwide Studios for quite some days now. So, without further ado, let’s dive into everything that was shown during the 24th September 2019 edition of Sony PlayStation State of Play.

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The new Call of Duty game from Infinity Ward is one of the highest anticipated games right now. As a spiritual reboot, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brings back some of the most iconic characters from the Modern Warfare franchise and puts them in a much darker and grittier setting as they try to curb the threat of terrorism from the globe. At State of Play, we got to see a story trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that showed many familiar faces. You can check out the full trailer down below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes out on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 24, 2019.

2. Arise: A Simple Story

Indie games have always done well on the PlayStation. We’ve seen some of the finest indie games come during recent times on the PlayStation like Ori and the Blind Forest and Journey. Arise follows a similar formula to those blockbuster games.

Packed with beautiful environments and breathtaking sights, Arise follows our protagonist on what seems like a very spiritual journey towards something important. With an equally magnificent soundtrack, Arise has potential to be one of the most beautiful games to come out on the PS4. You can check out its trailer down below.

3. PlayStation VR:

Sony has been trying to push its PlayStation VR platform for a while now. PSVR has been pretty successful thanks to it being cheaper than other VR solutions. At State of Play, Sony announced a bunch of new titles for the PSVR. However, what took the main stage was LA Noire VR, which is one of the best VR experiences available right now. LA Noire is already a great game and playing it in VR definitely improves the overall immersion and experience.

4. Civilization VI:

Sid Meier’s Civilization is one of the best strategy games on PC. However, the complexity of the series has always made it hard for the developers to port it over to console. However, the newest game from the series, Civilization VI, is finally making its move to console on the PS4. You can watch the trailer down below.

5. Death Stranding Limited Edition PS4:

Made by the legendary video game designer Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding is one of the highest anticipated games of this generation. The game is so different from everything else out right now and could potentially prove to be a genre defining game. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Hideo Kojima either. So, to celebrate the upcoming release of the game, we have a special Death Stranding Limited edition PS4 Pro Console coming out sporting that signature death stranding hand print.

6. PlayStation Plus Free October Titles

We also got to take a look at the free games for October on the PlayStation Plus. This month, the games are MLB: The Show 2019 and The Last of Us remastered. MLB: The Show 2019 is the game to go to if you’re looking for a robust and fun baseball game to play with your friends. On the other hand, with The Last of Us 2 on the horizon, if you haven’t played the first one, now would be the time. With PlayStation Plus, you can experience the remastered edition of arguably one of the best console games of all time.
