To be honest, these are not made for higher end work and gaming, but if you want to do things like taking notes, browse the web or consume media then these are some of the best choices and are probably all that you need. So without further ado let’s jump straight into the list.
Samsung Chromebook 3:
At number seven on the list is the Samsung Chromebook 3 which is a big surprise for me as even though Samsung does not make many laptops this budget one is extremely good. Firstly it is priced for 190 dollars for which you get a good build some decent performance in Chrome OS and a good display.
The laptop is fully made of plastic which is expected but has a unit texturized finish on the back that not only gives the laptop a bit of style but feels nice. The laptop is very portable due to its small form-factor and thin and light design.
The display is also really impressive, it is an 11.6 inches size panel and a resolution of 1366 x 768. Colors and contrast are good, viewing angles are decent and the display is also quite sharp cause of its small size.
The specs here include the Intel Celeron N3060 processor paired up with 4 Gigabytes of RAM and 16 Gigabytes of flash storage which is expandable since this is a Chromebook. The performance even with these specs is solid and you will experience no lag while doing day to day tasks.
HP Stream 14:
Moving on to number six on the list we have the HP stream 14 which is one of the cheapest options for a Windows laptop out there and is one of the best all-around laptops for students on a budget.
The build quality and design of this laptop are quite nice its full plastic body isn’t very flashy but it is quite subdued looking which I prefer. Portability on this is also excellent as it is very thin and light.
Taking a look at the display on the laptop, it is not very good but is decent enough for work. It is a 14-inch 1366 x 768 resolution panel that has fair looking colors and contrast. It has decent sharpness but the viewing angle are very poor.
The specs on the laptop include the Intel Celeron N3060 processor paired up with 4 Gigs of RAM 32 Gigs of internal storage. This laptop also comes with one year of Microsoft Office 365.
These specs will let you do most of the work plus it runs Windows so you get full sized desktop applications. You will experience no lag while performing day to day tasks like sending emails, working on a presentation and surfing the web.
Acer Chromebook CB3-532:
Number five on the list is the Acer Chromebook CB3-532 that is a well known device and has everything you would expect in a Chromebook for $200. It comes with the premium build a good display and really nice performance.
The build quality and design are one of the best aspects of this laptop. The chassis is made up of metal and plastic and has a brushed finish on the back that looks really nice. It is also quite light and thin and looks a lot more than its price.
The display is one of the best for the price it is 15.6 inch IPS panel having a resolution of 1366 x 768 that looks stunning. It has great sharpness, really good colors and contrast and is great for any kind of media consumption.
The performance is good considering the specs, it sports the Intel Celeron N3060 processor along with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB SSD for internal storage. With these specs, you’ll be able to do most things on Chrome OS. The experience is also pretty smooth but you might experience some lag if you open up more apps.
Lenovo Ideapad 120S:
Next up we have the Lenovo IdeaPad 120s which is one of the most premium feeling laptops on this list and it’s probably one of the best built laptops at this price. The body is fully made of metal with a very minimal look that adds to the overall premium feel of
the laptop.
It is extremely thin and light and has a very small form factor that helps in portability. The display is also pretty solid, it is an 11.6 inch HD IPS panel that looks pleasing to the eyes but does lack in color accuracy. The viewing angles are pretty good and the sharpness is also on point due to its small sized display.
Moving on to the specs on this device, it is powered by the Intel Celeron N3350 processor combined with 4 Gigabytes of RAM and 32 Gigabytes of internal storage. Overall here the biggest weakness is also the RAM which is only 2 gigabytes but other than that it performs well in less demanding tasks so number.
Acer Aspire 1:
Moving on to number three we have the Acer Aspire 1 which no doubt is the best laptop you can buy for $200. It offers some of the best performance for the price. The build quality and display are incredible and it is an overall solid package.
The laptop is mostly made of plastic but it does not feel cheap at all rather it looks and feels quite nice with that textured finish and due to its thin and light form factor, it is easy to carry around.
The display on this is yet again a plus point as it is a 15.6 inch full HD LED panel which is quite impressive for this price. The display resembles the Acer Aspire 5 in terms of quality which is a good thing.
The specs on this include the Intel Celeron N4000 along with 4 Gigabytes of RAM and 64 Gigabytes of eMMC storage. This new and more powerful Celeron CPU gives much better performance than before and will give you some solid performance at this low price and even allows you to do some lightweight gaming.
Dell Inspiron 2018:
The Dell Inspiron is a well known entry level laptop series, I personally really like this because one it’s got really good specs for this price point I think and it’s geared towards students and also it a Dell laptop so you know the hardware is gonna be great.
Taking a look at the specs it features the AMD86 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz which is a really great processor and I actually use one on my desktop PC gaming built. It is not the same as the desktop version but is still a really good processor.
You also get 4 Gigabytes of RAM paired up with 32 Gigabytes of SSD storage. The display is decent and gets the job done for the most part, it is a 1366 x 768 resolution display and is 11.6 inches so it’s not too small but it’s actually not that big either so it is kind of in the middle.
RCA Cambio 10.1:
Last but not least we have the cheapest option for under $100. The RCA Cambio is a 10.1 inch tablet that comes with Windows 10 tablet only costs around $87 on Walmart right now.
This is a really great laptop when it comes to specs on this guy is it does come with the Intel Atom processor which is okay for lightweight stuff and handles Windows just fine. It does come with 2 Gigabytes of RAM and 32 Gigabytes of flash memory.
It does support a USB so you can stick an external keyboard or Mouse into this device. The display is a 10.1 inch IPS panel having a resolution of 1280 x 800 display. The viewing angles are great as it is an IPS panel plus the colors are accurate.
It does have Bluetooth 4.0 and also you do have two cameras on the front and back which are okay enough for video calling. The battery life is decent and it will last for around 6 hours. You also get pre-installed Windows Mobile office applications. Overall it is a decent laptop considering its low price point and is for someone who is looking for a very portable laptop for under $100.
