Stellantis’ Peugeot brand is gearing up to revolutionize the driving experience by integrating ChatGPT into its cars and vans. This move, following in the footsteps of rivals like Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, aims to enhance the voice assistant features and provide a more intuitive and interactive driving experience for customers. According to Jerome Micheron, the Director of Peugeot’s Product Plan, ChatGPT will be incorporated into all vehicles, including the highly-anticipated e-3008 model and small commercial vehicles.

During a media call on Tuesday, Micheron unveiled the launch of a pilot version of the ChatGPT service, set to debut in five countries—France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain. This version is capable of connecting to vehicle controls and addressing various general or navigation-related queries, paving the way for a more seamless and sophisticated driving experience. The ultimate goal is to standardize this service across all Peugeot vehicles by the year’s end.

The integration of ChatGPT into Peugeot vehicles follows in the wake of Mercedes-Benz’s trial in the United States, where drivers were able to engage with ChatGPT for more natural responses and assistance with a wide array of inquiries, and Volkswagen’s plans to integrate ChatGPT into its voice assistant by mid-year.

In addition to the ChatGPT integration, Peugeot has also announced its intention to introduce an extended eight-year warranty for the e-3008 model, representing a significant extension from the current two-year warranty on its cars. This move is reflective of the brand’s commitment to encouraging more drivers to transition to electric vehicles and is a step towards building consumer confidence in the longevity and performance of electric vehicles.

The integration of ChatGPT into Peugeot vehicles is a clear indication of the automotive industry’s shift towards more interactive and personalized driving experiences. As technology continues to evolve, car manufacturers are recognizing the importance of integrating advanced AI-driven features to cater to the growing demand for seamless and intuitive connectivity. This move is likely to set a new trend in the industry, paving the way for more sophisticated and interactive voice assistant features in the automotive sector.
