Sony is known for its premium quality phones and hasn’t disappointed us at all with its new release; the Xperia XZ2. Sony’s new flagship phone was revealed at an event in Barcelona by the name of the Mobile World Congress. The smartphone is not only compact but adds a 3D- scanning capable front shooter as well- along with a plethora of other features.
Sony reported to ZDnet, that the phone was marketed as an entertainment device. As per Oceania MD for Sony Mobile Communications John Featherstone, Sony is rather known as an entertainment providing company than an electronic one. Therefore, Sony loves its customer base who expect such from Sony.
The Sony’s new flagship is certainly the best of both worlds. It had added the best of features from their every technology to please the public by providing a completely Sony like experience to everything. Be it the S-Force surround sound or the LDAC wireless high-resolution audio crossover-ed from Sony’s Music products, Sony has given this phone everything. The screen technology is the same as that employed in the much popular Sony Bravias. Furthermore, Sony’s photography products, Alpha and Cybershot were also used in the phone as well.
Not only this but courtesy the Action Cam, there would be five-way image stabilization as well. Furthermore, making the best use of its PlayStation Platform, the phone would also boast a dynamic vibration system as well as the Augmented Reality feature which is soon going to be the tech of the future. Not only this, but they have improvised yet once again and launched a phone with a center-aligned fingerprint sensor as well.
Courtesy the vibration system from the Playstations, if you are playing music on this flagship XZ2 with a heavy bass song, your phone would vibrate accordingly giving a much better experience than before. It would certainly feel like listening to a song in a home theater or enjoying very well a live concert. According to Featherstone, “What we’re doing is we’re taking the knowledge out of a gaming environment, and you can feel what you’re seeing and experiencing as well”.
He further stated that, “Whatever entertainment you’re watching — movies, gaming, whatever — you’ll be fully immersed in the moment, and that’s what it’s about, that’s what we’re trying to get people to experience. There’s a number of theoretical world firsts [with this handset] … but certainly with that dynamic vibration system, it really starts to become an entertainment device.”
Phone’s features just don’t stop here but the phone also boasts a 5.7-inch high dynamic range (HDR) full HD+ 18:9 display. Not only this but you are surely likely to hear 20 percent more volume on this flagship as compared to XZ1, courtesy the front-facing stereo speakers. The phone is also capable of recording 4K videos and that in HDR mode. Along with these are a full HD 960 FPS super slow-motion capture; a Motion Eye camera with smile detection, predictive capture, autofocus burst, and predictive autofocus; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform for 1.2Gbps 4G speeds.
Not only this but there is also Bravia Xreality tech that up-converts content to near-HDR, improving the quality of non-HDR videos; a 3D glass surface with a metal frame; Corning Gorilla Glass 5; and Android 8.0 Oreo.
The phone is available in a variety of 4 colors; Liquid silver, ash pink, deep green, and liquid black. With an impressive 3180 mAh battery expect it to last out at least a day of usage. It is a must-have phone for those looking for a true Sony experience.
