Samsung Electronics
Samsung Electronics was founded back in the year 1969 as Samsung Electronic Industries, Suwon in South Korea. They made their Headquarters in South Korea and started making everything from latest LED televisions to semiconductors.
Samsung stepped into the field of smartphone manufacturing and made their first Android based phone in the year 2009. Samsung Electronics is now known among the biggest players in the smartphone market all over the world. They have recently developed a new smartphone which is capable of running on Tizen operating system which is an alternative to the Android based smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S series is an executive and a high-end line in both mobile smartphones and tablets introduced by Samsung Electronics. In March 2010, Samsung Electronics introduced the first ever version of the S Series in mobile smartphones by the name of Samsung Galaxy S. This model was officially released in June 2010.
With the success of the S Series, Samsung Electronics also introduced Galaxy Note smartphones in 2011. The success of smartphones and Galaxy note reverberated worldwide. In June 2014, Samsung Electronics announced the first generation of Galaxy S Tablets which were later released in July 2014.
The progression and up-gradation in the Galaxy S series has continued ever since. The shapes and styles changed over time and enhancements in terms of software and hardware were made. As 2017 arrived, Samsung Electronics revealed their latest masterpiece in April this year and named it Samsung Galaxy S8. They also introduced Samsung Galaxy S3 Tablet this year along with S8’s launch.
Samsung Galaxy S8
Samsung Galaxy S8 is the best Android phone which is available in the market at present. This smartphone costs around $750 in the international market. Samsung’s new flagship phones have set an exciting, beautiful and challenging new path as far as smartphone design is concerned.
Experience a smartphone without boundaries! The edges of the phone have been replaced with a 5.8-inch infinite display which is beveled at the edges and meet almost at the rear of the phone. It is the first smartphone which is housing Qualcomm’s beastly processor by the name “Snapdragon 835” for giving a record breaking performance among its competitors.
Samsung has also introduced its new Bixby Virtual Assistant which is fully available on the latest smartphones. But this feature was launched after the Galaxy S8 was revealed. Many people are not happy with the location of the finger print sensor on the smartphone’s screen, however, Galaxy S8 has an edge over other smartphones by offering an extra ordinary battery life along with improvements in the camera which was already top notch.
Futuristic Design
Samsung Galaxy S8 exemplifies a bezel-free phone done right. Samsung while making S8 not only took away the bezels rather also crafted an artistic design of edge to edge display also known as an infinite display.
The curve of Gorilla Glass towards the edges on the front and back not only gives the phone a sleeker look but also makes a greater screen-to-body ratio. It is also thinner and narrower than many Android based smartphones available in the market which are like flat slabs as compared to this.
It has a 5.8-inch touch screen and offers a more compact and lightweight design. This 5.8-inch screen of Galaxy S8 is housed in a 2.7-inch inch wide chassis which weighs around 5.5 ounces. Though it is slightly bigger in size as compared to its older models, it can be easily used with one hand.
Fingerprint Sensor
The fingerprint sensor has been placed at the back side of the cell phone. This is slightly smaller and narrower in size as compared to the older versions. This causes adjustment and placement issues. Initially, when you buy this cell phone, it takes a while for you and your fingers to adjust to the fingerprint sensor placed at the back. But once done, the use is smooth. But having it under the rear lens of the camera would have made it more convenient to handle and use.
Apart from this, there is also an option to unlock your cell phone using other biometric options. There is a facial recognition system along with iris recognition system for unlocking the cell phone.
Unlocking the cell phone using iris recognition system is much faster as compared to other options and works in the dark as well. The only limitation it has is once used in direct sunlight. Your eyes are required to be fully opened as squinting is not an option in this case. However facial recognition is a slightly slower system of unlocking the cell phone. It has a limitation of use in direct sunlight and does not work well in the dark.
Display
It supports a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels which even iPhone has not introduced yet. Rumour has it that iPhone is bringing AMOLED screen to their latest iPhone 8 but it is yet to be seen whether the picture crispness, details, and clarity match with that of Galaxy S8.
It offers a very bright picture with amazingly vivid colors and a perfect color accuracy. Its extra wide 18.5:9 aspect ratio at times doesn’t work well with some of the apps but overall it gives an extremely good experience while watching videos and playing games.
Audio
Though the speaker on this device is relatively smaller, the sound it produces is absolutely clear and crisp. The sound quality is simply perfect and the volume is louder than any other comparable device. However, you do not get a stereo sound from the Galaxy S8 as you do from the HTC U Ultra.
Camera
It bears a 12 megapixels rear camera and 8 megapixels front camera. Though the Samsung Galaxy S7 also has a 12 Megapixel camera, Samsung has introduced up-gradation in the camera software with a lot of added features.
The Galaxy S8 also has a multi-image photo processing capability recently introduced by Samsung Electronics. It selects the best picture among a lot of HDR photos, enhances it further with the help of extra details and info extracted from other remaining pictures.
New Virtual Assistant
Samsung Electronics has introduced a new personal assistant by the name Bixby. It is similar in function to Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.
Accessories
The latest Gear VR works perfectly well with this device and is an exciting experience of virtual reality in games and content. A new device DeX has been introduced by Samsung Electronics which is just like a dock. When the cell phone is put in this dock, it is connected to your PC and lets you use your phone as a mini PC.
Not only this, the dock can connect to a full-size monitor via HDMI port and the mouse and keyboard are connected via Bluetooth. Ethernet jack is also present in the cell phone along with a USB port.
Over all, Samsung Galaxy S8 is an incredible phone with all the amazing features required from a cell phone. It is all set to give its rivals a run for their money.
