Tired of your mobile device getting out of Wi-Fi range? We have a solution; the Netgear NightHawk X6 AC3200 R8000 offers a long range along with a fast and smooth Wi-Fi experience. Considering the cost for which it comes ($300), it is indeed quite expensive but just might be worth this much money.
Design:
The AC3200 is rather different than its counterparts, in a way that it has to be set up horizontally or placed onto a wall. Measuring around 11.5 x 8.8 x 2.2 inches the NightHawk X6 is indeed one of the biggest Wi-Routers these days, so expect it to take much space. The router has a particularly peculiar design, as it seems more of like a spaceship with its sharp angles and a geometrical approach to its grille. Nevertheless, the router looks beautiful in its ‘all black ‘ design.
Apart from this, a series of 13 LED lights are present to indicate various ports or bands being switched on or off. Moreover, it’s easier to reboot the AC 3200, courtesy an On/Off button.
Beamforming Technology:
Instead of a usual two or three antennas, the router has six of them! Not only this, but they can also fold out, extending up to 3.3 inches, with an adjustable amount of angle around 140 degrees. The antennas use a beamforming technology which focuses signals to where they are needed, instead of just spreading them out. This means that the R8000 has a much better range than other standard routers, meaning you can easily connect, at a much larger distance from your router.
Tri-Band Operations:
Think of this more like 3 separates ways for the network traffic to travel. The more ways the faster transmission. Therefore, along with a single 2.4 GHz channel, there are two more 5 GHz channels, and hence, high-speed traffic can be dealt through any one of these.
Performance and Ports:
Powered by a 1 GHz processor with a 256 MB RAM and a 128 MB of storage, the router is quite capable of delivering smooth and ‘buffer’ free Wi-Fi performance. Moreover, you can also allocate your bandwidth to specific devices like gaming consoles, for the ultimate gaming experience.
Furthermore, there are 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, for you to have a wired connection between your device and the network. Not only this, but there is a USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port for you to access your files across all your devices currently on the network.
Easy Setup:
Courtesy the Netgear’s Genie Software, all it takes is just 5 minutes for the whole router configuration through the AC 3200’s setup wizard. When the router is switched on and is plugged into the broadband modem, you just have to open up routerlogin.net on your favorite browser and leave the rest on the router. The router automatically detects the type of connection you currently use! Moreover, instead of a Generic SSID and Password, each router has a different SSID and password, ensuring your network connection safety.
Genie Software:
You can easily modify the network settings as you wish by utilizing the router’s Genie software. The number of connected devices, info related to your network and the firmware version used by the router can all be viewed easily. There are also parental controls for you to restrict your child’s browsing. Along with this is a data traffic meter which monitors your usage, and shows the download and upload speeds. Further, the genie has a capability of emailing you when a new user connects to the network. Also, much of the basic settings can also be changed by using the Android or iOS app available for the router.
For $300, the Netgear NightHawk X6 AC3200 R8000 might seem a tad bit too expensive, but considering the features, it’s completely worth the money!
