As we get closer to pre-orders of RTX 3090, a lot of custom models along with their prices are leaked. It looks like the custom models of Nvidia RTX 3090 will cost significantly higher than the Founders Edition. This comes as a surprise to most of the enthusiasts waiting for the release.
Nvidia just announced pre-orders for one of their newer Ampere cards recently. With that, we witnessed one of the fastest stock wipes in history. According to the Nvidia website, 3090 pre-orders will go live tomorrow. Keeping in mind the previous trend we can safely assume that they will go even faster out of stock. In addition, we mentioned the problems with resellers on websites like eBay.
Once pre-orders end the founder’s edition cards will be back in stock after a while. This means that a lot of users will have to go for a third party which brings us back to the point of high prices. These high prices could really hurt device availability incase of this card. Furthermore, it will also lead to even strange pricings on e-commerce websites.

The leak suggests that new the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 custom models could go for as high as 1800 dollars. It mentions the prices of several models from famous manufacturers like ASUS and EVGA. the leak apparently comes from Newegg listings. The listings also contain information about various variants of upcoming cards. It is clear from these listings that users will have to pay a significantly higher amount than Founders Edition this time.
The Leak comes from Reddit user MRizkBV who discovered many custom models of the RTX 3090 which were listed on Newegg US using the price filters. Although there are several listings containing RTX 3090 on Best Buy. What’s different about Newegg however is that these listings include cards from many different vendors. They even include top variants such as the ASUS ROG STRIX and EVGA FTW3.
The Card Variants:
Here is a list of all the cards mentioned in the leaked listings
- Asus ROG Strix OC Edition, ROG-STRIX-RTX3090-O24G-GAMING, $1,799.99
- EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming, 24G-P5-3987-KR, $1,799.99

- Asus TUF Gaming, TUF-RTX3090-24G-GAMING, $1,499.99
It looks like the AIBs will charge a hefty premium this time. This is exactly opposite to Nvidia’s strategy for this generation. In addition it will completely change the pricing models for these devices. Intrestingly, Best Buy has also listed ASUS ROG STRIX OC and EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming for $1799.99 US.
It doesn’t matter how conderably better these cards perform as compared to the Founders edition asking this smuch from users is blatantly wrong . A lot of replies on reddit were not happy about these leaked prices which an emotion we are sure many gamers will share. Either way it looks like we’ll have to wait for official statements form companies to make sense out of these prices. Although a lot of custom cards come with better cooling designs some flash RGB features and even screens sometimes. It still make a lot less sense to price them this high .
RTX 3090 and 8K Gaming:
RTX 3090 is perhaps the fastest and most powerful card from Nvidia till date. It features 82 SM units which results whopping 10496 CUDA Cores. Comes with a boost clock of up to 1.7 GHz and has a bus bandwidth of 384-bit which allows data rate of 19.5 Gbps. Speeds faster than ever and compute units higher than what we imagined to have a few years back. RTX 3090 contains GA102 GPU chip from NVIDIA which is the fastest chip that NVIDIA has ever produced. The Graphics compute unit is based on a custom Samsung 8nm process and comes with Nvidia’s second-generation Ray Tracing cores and third-generation Tensor cores.

It is this much amount of RAW power that Nvidia brans this card as 8K gaming GPU. Intrestingly we have seen claims this time from Nvidia which did not turn out to be exactly true. A lot of claims from the initial launch event were based on synthetic benchmark results. This also puts users in a bit of doubt whether this card actually does 8k an playable framerates or not. By saying this we obviously do not mean that this card is less powerful in any way it is just that 8K is a lot of pixels to push and we did not see any footage from Nvidia.
However, acording to latest reviews from famous tech YouTubers now it looks like the card actually does 8K at 60 frames a second. The amount of detail and immersion we will get form upcoming game is just fascinating. Meanwhile lets hope that once these third party cards drop we gett better valu than the rumors.
