As the demand for portable gadgets keeps growing, the tech companies are running the race of developing the best of their devices. In every technological innovation, we get to see something new and better product than before, but eventually it depends on our need and requirements.

Libratone ZIPP Speakers are one such kind of advanced products that might be your thing if you love dancing to the loud music. We’re reviewing ZIPP for you to decide if this is what you’re looking for!

The company Libratone debuted back in 2009 with a vision to push the limits of audio equipment and build an entirely new type of speakers that can free the music listeners from the restriction of wires, at the same time, delivering rich quality sound. The startup led them to create an AirPlay sound bar called Lounge which was quite large in size and had premium sound, but the developers at Liberatone only wanted to settle for the best, so they kept working on until they came up with one of the world’s first portable speakers, ZIPP!

ZIPP speakers are not-so-small, solid cylindrical shape, immersive music bars that are designed to deliver full room sound experience. They are easy to carry and handle; giving you a chance to live your life like a music video. Personally speaking, portable speakers do give you a joy to turn normal moments into fun and enjoyable times, since the audio sound of your phone isn’t loud enough to make you sing along and dance, ZIPP may have the power to do so, if it really offers all the features it claims.

Sound Quality:

ZIPP’s acoustic technology fills the room with rave sounds, High resolution audio 96 kHz/24 bit, having impressive frequency range of 40 Hz – 20 kHz, which means you might have to apologize to your neighbor for interrupting their sleep. It also has Link speakers for individual left/right stereo channels. Full digital class D amplified adaptive DSP sound optimization. Also, speaker protection system is set to extend Zipp’s life longer. It generates 100 Watt total power across 3 DSP enhanced amplifier channels, and you can also pair up the speakers to multiply the sound high enough to throw a huge dance party.

Size and Shape:

Unlike most of the small portable speakers available in the market, ZIPP didn’t compromise on its sound quality for keeping the device little in size. Libratone examined and concluded with a fact that if portable speakers are too small in size, they can barely provide the kind of sound quality you expect. ZIPP speakers, however, come in two moderate sizes, the 10-inch tall Zipp ($299) and the 8.8-inch tall Zipp Mini ($249), designed in a cylindrical shape to disperse the sound in all directions, jangling the room with your favorite music. Weighing in at 1.5kg only, making it easy to move around.

Touch Interface:

Since we all now prefer smart touch over pressing buttons, Zipp contains intuitive controls for volume, play, pause, skip forward/back. It is operated by Liberatone app which makes it easy to setup and use. It also offers five programmable internet radio stations to maximize the fun. But coolest of the cool things is its Hush gesture detection feature which is used to pause or stop the speakers.

Connectivity:

ZIPP is completely user friendly and give easy access to your favorite music through its long range WiFi dual band 2.4 Hz & 5 gHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n compatible and a strong Bluetooth 4.0 aptX to stream any audio from any device. Connect one speaker with Bluetooth and other pairs of your speakers automatically connect with eachother like a network. It is also Airplay (iOS), DLNA (Android/Windows) supported. But the most interesting feature is that you can play your Spotify music directly, without your phone. Spotify is not available in all portable speakers; Thanks to Libratone for realizing the need to have it in Zipp, which is what makes this gadget stand out.

Inputs and Battery Power:

Zipp is a rechargeable device with up to 10 hours of continuous play, which means you don’t have to keep it plugged to enjoy long lasting music time. Also, if you’re at a place with no internet or Wifi, you can insert your USB to listen music from your own playlist. It also has USB charge-out jack which can charge your phone through speaker battery. How cool is that?

Personalization:

Last but not the least, if you’re a man or woman of style, you must be choosy considering the ‘looks’ of the gadget. Zipp has got your back here as well, as you can change the cover of your speaker, matching your mood or home décor.  However the base and top of the speaker has white satin surface which is unchangeable, and a quality black leather carrying handle which can’t be changed either, but rest assured that replaceable Wool fabric covers, available in almost all bright colors, are enough to keep your Zipp speakers trendy.

I’m pretty picky about audio gear, and I’ve been nothing but pleased with the Zipp. Its connectivity options are great, the design and form factor are beautiful, and the sound quality is strong for a speaker its size. You’re obviously not going to get perfect fidelity from a portable speaker, especially over Bluetooth, but the convenience makes this a perfect speaker for carrying around the house, setting up on the porch, and bringing along on trips. Highly recommended! ” – Kent Hudson, a satisfied customer on Amazon.

My Opinion:

As Zipp by Libratone received 4.1 out of 5 starts on Amazon, I think it definitely deserves it. These speakers have everything a music lover can wish for, seriously. And, considering the price, it is very much affordable as compared to other high-brands portable speakers which don’t really deliver the results as high as their prices are. But Zipp, on the other hand, is a cool affordable gadget with a strong audio gear, having Wifi, Bluetooth, USB jack, Spotify connection, High resolution sound quality, smart touch interface, swanky design and so on. We rate it 4.5 out of 5!
