The tech giant, LG officially announced its new flagship smartphone in the ‘G-family’ which they named “LG G7 ThinQ” at the events in New York on 2 May and Korea on 3 May. The LG G7 ThinQ packs some exciting new features like AI-powered camera, Boombox sound and much more. So Without any further delay, let’s take a closer look at what LG is offering us this year. Here are all the details you’ll love to know.
DESIGN:
LG emphasis on its G7 ThinQ to be this year’s smartest and sexiest on the look. The phone’s 6.1in LCD screen takes up the entire front of the phone with a notch at the top and a chin at the bottom. The notch is also LG’s way of expanding the screen to a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. A little change is the sleep/wake button, which has been shifted to the side while the fingerprint sensor is still on the back. It has an extra button too on the left side of the metal frame.
LG’s AI button is better than Samsung’s, however. A single press launches Google Assistant, a double press launches you straight into Google Lens, and a long press on the key takes you straight into voice commands with Assistant. The phone is also IP68 water and dust resistance (Things you can’t resist on).
SUPER BRIGHT LCD:
LG is again beating its G6 with its upcoming G7 ThinQ super features. G7 ThinQ is built with 6.1in Super Bright LCD screen, and they call it 30% more energy efficient than G6 and you’ll be amazed to hear that the result on comparing G6 and G7 ThinQ is visibly remarkable. The entire display can get very bright (maximum to 1,000 nits whereas normal smartphones can peak at almost 500 or 600 nits). This makes it ideal for outdoor use and that’s what it makes LG call this its Super Bright Display.
AI- POWERED CAMERAS:
The G7 ThinQ, to-be-launched, is gearing up with a 16 MP rear camera plus an ultra wide-angle view. The AI powered camera triggers to guess what the subject is; for example, a person, animal, food etc. The phone doesn’t only come with a super bright LCD, it’s landing with a Super Bright Camera offering a 4x brightness which helps to detect low-light situations and enhances the picture brightness itself.
Let’s just not forget the front camera. In all of the upgrades, one of the prominent and a good step taken by LG is its front camera. The G7 ThinQ has been updated with an 8 MP front-facing camera proving the biggest improvement for LG this year.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Talking about the features, the most important thing to note is that G7 ThinQ is here with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. While others are fitted with a Snapdragon 835, LG has revolutionized its G7 ThinQ with a new version smartphone flagship chip, coupled with a 4 GB RAM and a 64 GB internal storage. Also a slot for a microSD card (up to 2 TB) for expanding the memory. Of course, who doesn’t need a big storage for memories to keep. This phone is coming to make its name in the tech race with the 2018 latest Android 8.0 Oreo with LG skin and Smart Bulletin.
THE ‘BOOMBOX’ SOUND:
LG isn’t coming down anyway. With some more exciting features, they’re here once again. The LG G7 is built with a “Boombox” speaker, which is plenty loud. The phone has a rich bass and reverbs even more powerful sound when resting on a table or a hard place. The single speaker is enough to shiver you with its bass when placed in a wooden hollow container.
BATTERY LIFE:
According to the information by LG, the ‘G7 ThinQ’ is coming up with a 3000 mAh battery. It seems a little low when comparing with V30 which has an amazing 3,300 mAh battery. Well LG named it a compromise for the phone’s dimension however it’s a bit thicker than V30. But we still are waiting to test how does this works when it comes to battery longevity. The phone uses USB-C and officially supports QuickCharge 3.0 and wireless charging as well.
RELEASE DATE AND PRICING:
The LG G7 ThinQ is destined to reach Korea first in Mid of May, though the company has always brought the flagship in their territory first. Later the phone will be available in the US on June’18 and for rest, the dates will be announced soon. How much will the phone cost? Well for the price LG has hinted that it’ll not be an expensive one than other flagship smartphones. It is rumored that the price of the to-be-launched phone is higher than G6 but much cheaper than iPhone X.
EARLY VERDICT:
So far, what I’ve seen LG G7 ThinQ ticks all the right boxes for a flagship smartphone device. The few nice touches LG has given to the new member of their smartphone family are pretty eye-catching, for example, the 3.5mm jack, glass body, the notch and the chin etc.
Obviously, the G7 ThinQ is an upgrade over the first ThinQ smartphone. It seems the wait is worth it so let’s meet G7 ThinQ next month and see what other surprises we are getting. We’ll be updating the confirmed release date with some further details about LG G7 ThinQ when the information is available so do check back.
