As launch dates draw closer for the all-new iPhones we are hearing reports of an increase in production speeds. The new iPhone 12 series is expected to launch soon and it looks like Apple is trying to push the limits of their production partners. Current reports point out that apple plans to get the new iPhones to their respective distributors by October 5th. This should come as a surprise as we know Apple is planning a big launch this time.
The first shipment to reach stores worldwide will include the 5.4 inch iPhone 12 mini and 6.1-inch iPhone 12. The current rumors also suggest that both of these phones will have 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants. The event will most likely take place on the 13th of October. It will shed a little more light on the upcoming models and their details.
The Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn is working day and night to meet the deadlines set by Apple. According to the South China Morning Post, the company is running its production lines nonstop to produce iPhone 12 units. They are using measures like mandatory overtime and fairly good compensations for workers to keep the production schedules. Some reports even suggest that the company has canceled all of the worker holidays.
There are a few takeaways from all this information. first of all the reports and strict schedules show that besides the US measures to seclude and cut of Chinese companies. Still, both of these countries have highly reliant economies. One of the main reasons for that is China’s exceptional manufacturing techniques and infrastructure. While most of the world is still fighting the coronavirus pandemic. China has recovered mostly on the production side now which means that they are ready to get back on track.
Besides the upsets, the virus may have caused they think they might still make the missed deadlines. Production resumed at Foxconn’s plant in Henan province in February and since summer overtime work has gradually increased. One of the workers from the factory talked about the new wage system. He said that “You can earn 5,000 yuan to 6,000 yuan (US$880) per month, and if you work at the factory for more than 90 days, there’s a handsome amount of special pay”.
Another one of the employees confirmed the previous rumor about night overtimes. The facility is working 24 hours a day to accelerate production speeds. Currently, all we have heard about the new iPhone is that there will be four new models all with 5G enabled. These include a 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 12, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max.
Interestingly, this time, all the new iPhone 12 devices are believed to feature OLED displays. All models will be powered by the Apple A14 chips, support for 5G cellular networking, and more RAM than the previous generation. The major differentiating factor between these new iPhone 12 models will be the number of cameras. The Pro models will ship with more three cameras, while the non-Pro models will ship with two cameras.
However, none of the devices in the iPhone 12 lineup will ship with bundled earbuds or charger for the first time. Apple foreshadowed this move by announcing that the Apple Watch Series 6 will not come with a power adapter as well, citing environmental reasons. More details on the devices will come once they launch in October.
