Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) a tech leaker recently unveiled information about the HTC’s rumored midrange smartphone known as the HTC Breeze (which is the second time the company has used this code name).

The Taiwanese manufacturer has been offering some decent specification phones in the mid-range department since last year but they lack the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio with the edge to edge display and are unfortunately let down by the aged looks.
The company seems to be changing their strategy by launching a new entry-level smartphone that looks to be something far more 2018. It will rock a 5.5 inch 18:9 aspect ratio display. There is no information about the resolution but of course, don’t expect a 4K OLED panel since it will be a low-priced smartphone. It will more likely be an IPS panel with a 1080p or 720p display.
The company have made compromises under the hood, the phone is slightly less powerful than the last year’s budget smartphone HTC U11 Life that came with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage in the lowest-end model. The HTC Breeze will be powered by some kind of Mediatek SoC processor paired up with 2 Gigabytes of RAM and 16 Gigabytes of internal storage.
The specs are extremely low-end considering we are now in 2018. The phone might even struggle sometimes in the day to day tasks, one must not expect buttery smooth performance from this smartphone.
Apart from the phone innards, the camera specs sound pretty decent. There will be a 13 megapixel shooter at the back and a 5 megapixel shooter upfront which will allow you to take some high quality selfies.
The phone will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense UI over the top of Android. The final reveal is about the battery which is a fairly low-powered 2,730mAh battery, it would be great if this phone lasts an entire day with its 5.5 inch display which is a heavy draw on battery power.
No information about the design or the build quality has been revealed yet, although the phone might share build quality similar to its predecessor the HTC U11 Life. However, HTC Breeze will still have to face a tough competition in the market as there are many budget friendly smartphones out there that offer a lot more specs under the hood. We will have to wait to see more to know for sure. Despite Evan Blass’ good record, these are still just rumors at this point, and there’s still a lot that could change between now and the final reveal.
