The Computer Hardware giant HP boosted the Omen gaming line by unveiling their latest Upgradeable Gaming Laptop during Gamescom on Tuesday, 22 August. This gaming beast is known as the ‘Omen X Laptop’ and it shows HP’s dedication in the gaming line. The company first started its Omen series in May 2016 and has been releasing some high end desktops and laptops since then.
Omen X Laptop packs some really high end specs which are usually perks of typical stationary gaming desktops. This Laptop is bigger and more powerful than its predecessors and is even more sleek, measuring at 16.73 x 12.88 x 1.43 inches and weighs about 10.7 pounds. The built quality is premium and is made up of aluminum. There are several variants of this laptop with price starting from $1,199.
HP has created this notebook especially for the enthusiasts who are into overclocking and upgrading, these two are the main things that the company has emphasized about. You can easily upgrade RAM and laptops storage by accessing a special panel mounted at the bottom using a Philips-head screw driver. The memory limit has not yet been specified by HP.
Coming on to the specs of the device, it rocks a 17 inch 4K display for the top models and a 1080p at 120 Hz for the base model. Both the displays have Nvidia G-Sync enabled. The GPU options available to choose include GTX 1070 and GTX 1080, both come as factory unlocked for overclocking. To keep the GPU cool the company has pulled out the optical drive and have installed two large cooling fans on the left and right rear sections of the laptop. It helps in pulling air through vents placed below and release hot air through exhaust vents mounted on the side and the back.

The Laptop is powered by either an Intel Core i7 7700HQ or the factory unlocked version for overclocking the Intel Core i7 7820HK processor. It also comes with either 16 or 32 GB DDR4 2800 Mhz memory to choose from. The storage options available are of single HDD, single SSD, the combination of HDD and SSD, and PCIe SSD storage variations. It has 3 USB 3.0 ports, two thunderbolt USB C ports, HDMI port with HDR support, ethernet port, card reader, dual jack with mic, headphone jack and one miniDisplay port.
The Omen X Laptop keyboard has mechanical switches which provide clicky tactile and each key has its own RGB light which can be customized and there is an oversized space bar you can reach for during panicky gaming sessions.
The company has pre-installed their new Omen command software so that the users can easily over clock the memory and the CPU without going into the BIOS menu. You can customize your keyboard RGB light here and there are several other options for optimizing the gaming performance.
The down points which must be noted here, that might disappoint some gamers that this Laptop does not support Intel’s 8th generation processor and you can not upgrade the GPU. However, you can increase the graphics performance by investing in Omen GPU accelerator which provides the boost of graphics power to gaming and nongaming laptops.
This Gaming beast will be made available for purchase in sometime in November.
