Fadi Fawaz, boyfriend and partner of George Michael has stated the singer’s death was suicide on Twitter.
In a series of tweets, he wrote, “Not sure who that nasty close friend of George (sic) but i was in a relationship with George Michael till i found him dead in bed.
“The only thing George wanted is to die. He tried numbers of times to kill himself many times and finally he managed.”
“We loved each other very much and were together almost 24 hours a day.”
The tweets originally were reported in the Daily Mirror who has tried to contact George Michael’s representatives for a comment.
Shortly after the tweets went live, they were deleted and the Twitter account closed.
It is not clear at this time whether the account was hacked. Fawaz used the same account to announce the singer’s death on Christmas Day, and last night a tweet went live on the account, which read, “I hate you 2016 from the bottom of my heart”.
Rumours have surfaced that George Michael was in a state of despair due to problems he was experiencing with his voice. In 2011 he lost twenty percent of his lung capacity due to pneumonia, impairing his vocal ability.
News of his state of mind has in part come about due to an inconclusive post-mortem which has led to speculation that his death, aged 53, was not down to natural causes as first thought.
A source close to George said, “Losing voice capacity for a man like him was like losing his inner self or his soul.
“Things got so dark and difficult after it hit him. It tipped him over a psychological edge. George would never be the same man again – and more importantly, never be the same singer.
“He needed drugs and alcohol and anything he could get hold of to cope with such a severe loss.”
Police are treating the stars death as unexplained but not suspicious.
