The rise of astrology in the digital age has seen a surge in the number of Gen Z users turning to astrology apps for guidance on relationships, career, and more. According to a recent Astroyogi report, over 60% of astrology app users belong to the Gen Z demographic, indicating a growing interest in astrology among the younger generation.
The report, conducted with 5 lakh respondents last year, highlights the shift in Gen Z’s preferences when it comes to seeking astrological advice. Unlike previous generations, Gen Z prefers chatting over telephonic consultations with astrologers through apps, and they also show a strong inclination for free consultations. This generation is over four times more likely to speak to an expert without paying, compared to millennials and boomers.
Interestingly, 80% of queries by Gen-Z users on astrology apps are related to relationships, indicating that this generation is seeking guidance and answers about their love lives. Meena Kapoor, Founder and CEO of Astroyogi, attributes the surge in interest from the younger generation to the accessibility and convenience of astrology apps, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kapoor also mentioned that the company is seeing a significant increase in engagement from mid-sized cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune, indicating that astrology is not just popular in metropolitan areas but also in smaller cities.
The rise in interest in astrology among Gen Z has sparked discussions about the role of astrology in modern society. Some believe that astrology provides a sense of guidance and comfort, especially during uncertain times like the pandemic. Others argue that it’s important to approach astrology with a critical mindset and not rely solely on it for making life decisions.
Regardless of the opinions on the topic, it’s clear that astrology apps are becoming increasingly popular, especially among the younger generation. As technology continues to advance, it will be interesting to see how the landscape of astrology evolves and how it continues to impact the lives of its users.
