Gears 5 has been in the works for quite some time now. We’ve seen a lot of gameplay trailers for its multiplayer modes so far. However, one thing that we haven’t seen much of is the main story campaign. The Gears of War series has always had one of the best single player campaigns with compelling storylines and memorable characters. While the last Gears of War game did not score as highly in the books of the critics as the original trilogy, the campaign was still really good and did a good job at passing the torch on to the new generation.
With Gears 5, The Coalition intends to go back to the roots of what made Gears of War so good in the first place. The game has added a bunch of new multiplayer game modes and has also revived some much-loved older ones as well. At the Microsoft Gamescom event, we got to see the reveal trailer for the much-anticipated Horde mode for Gears 5.
The biggest announcement at the event, however, was that Gears 5 will be making its way to Steam on PC. In fact, you can preorder the game right now on Steam. Gears 5, much like all other Xbox exclusives, will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass. However, Game Pass Ultimate members will have access to it 4 days earlier than the release date.
Finally, at a separate event, we got to see the Story trailer for Gears 5 which follows Kait through her journey to find the truth about her grandmother’s necklace and how it is related to the locust. The trailer also features some classic Gears styled massive monsters and new intriguing gameplay mechanics.
Gears 5 comes out on PC and Xbox One on September 10, 2019.
