Getting in line with the trend followed by the tech companies for wearables, Garmin too has introduced Garmin Pay feature in Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch.
Like Apple, Samsung and Fitbit, Garmin has introduced a way for the users to pay through the smart watch, using a payment option called Garmin Pay.
The Garmin device is already an important part of your everyday life, considering it is a fitness device but with the Garmin Pay contactless payment solution, you’ll have more uses for it than ever before. It’s the faster, safer, convenient way to pay.
Vívoactive 3 is the first Garmin wearable to feature Garmin Pay, which lets you pay for purchases with your watch. Use it just about anywhere you can tap your card to pay. So, if you left your wallet in your locker or just forgot it, that post-run morning cafe latte can still be yours. Just tap and go.
It is a contactless payment solution designed for people who are always on the move. Whether you grab a cup of coffee after your morning run or get a bite to eat while out on a ride, Garmin Pay lets you make purchases quickly and almost effortlessly with nothing needed but your watch. No wallet? No phone? No problem. Garmin pay has got your back.
With just a few quick touches, Garmin Pay is easily accessible from your compatible Garmin watch. Enter your passcode, select the right credit card from your virtual wallet, and then hold your wrist near the card reader, that’s it. No need to fumble for your phone, cards or cash.
Payment card accounts are managed from the Garmin Connect mobile app, which, like other services, gives the you the ability to update or delete an account if your wearable gets stolen or is no longer in use.
Garmin Pay will work with many credit and debit cards from major banks. By adding your supported cards into your Garmin Pay wallet you’ll be able to enjoy all the rewards and benefits of your physical cards, right on your wrist.
You really don’t need to worry for security issues regarding the cash and payments. Since Garmin Pay protects you by using watch-specific card numbers and transaction codes every time you make a purchase. And your card number is not stored on your device, on the company servers or passed to merchants when you pay. Hence pay without fear.
With Garmin Pay, you can keep making purchases with the same cards you use every day. Garmin Pay works with many major credit and debit cards, including Visa and MasterCard. Just add them to your watch’s digital wallet, and then continue taking advantage of the perks and rewards your card offers.
It’s not sure whether we would see Garmin Pay on other Garmin wearables, and for now. “We don’t have any other devices we’re announcing at this time,” Phil McClendon, the lead product manager for the Vívoactive said, “but when we come out with a new technology, when appropriate, we introduce it to other products.”
