For those who always longed for an iPad Mini, but never could find it easy on their pockets, they need not worry; Asus ZenPad Z8s is there to have your back! This relatively small but easier to carry tablet supports cellular connections even LTE. The setback is that it’s only available through Verizon.
Boasting a stylish Aluminium Design, the Asus Zenpad Z8s is out there as an alternative to your laptop, but for those in the UK or Austrailia, it isn’t officially available, so don’t get your hopes high. There aren’t many tablets which support LTE so it might seem a little offset, but then there are other tonnes to features to make your decision.
Measuring 133.86 x 204 x 6.9-inch cm, the tablet can be your perfect companion for casual browsing habits. For this, the tablet has an inbuilt storage capacity of around 16 GB, which might be less for you to store data on it, but then for casual users, it is enough to have many heavy-sized apps. Though some of this storage is set aside for system use, so whatever is left, that can be used only.
The tablet runs on Android 7.0 Nougat which is certainly not going to be outdated for a year at least and there would be support for updates as well. Also, with a 5 MP front shooter and a 13 MP back camera, you can be assured of high-quality imagery. The back camera is also capable of recording at 1080p.
Furthermore, by using two premium speakers with DTS HD Premium sound, you can forget all the “noise” woes. Moreover, along with the standard sensors that come with tablets, the tablet supports GPS as well.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Octa-Core processor at 1.8 GHz and boasting a 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, the tablet is simply more powerful than the average tablet around. Also, it features the Qualcomm Adreno 510 for its GPU so that you can play all those heavy games or view high-resolution videos you have always wanted to.
As for the display, it has a 7.9″ LED Backlight Touchscreen LCD Panel QXGA Screen with an IPS panel at a resolution of 1536 x 2048. Furthermore, the TouchScreen has up-to 10 finger multitouch support! To protect the screen, there is an anti-fingerprint coating as well while it utilizes the ASUS Tru2Life+ Technology to deliver you premium content.
For the interface, it uses a Micro Type – C USB jack for charging, which is soon going to be the norm in a year or so, and is faster and better than the old USB 3.1 or heck USB 2.0. It also has a headphone jack which isn’t found these on smartphones like the iPhone 7 and newer or the Google Pixel, so that you don’t have to spend extra on buying Bluetooth headphones. If you think you are falling low on storage there is a Micro SD Card support as well for up to 128 GB!
The most beautiful thing about this tablet is its battery life. With a 4680 mAh, non-removable battery, it can provide a battery life of up-to 13 hours!
According to a tech-enthusiast at CNET, after catching up on the two latest episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and checking out the pilot of “The Deuce” on Amazon Video, then streaming a handful of different Chicago Art Ensemble performances on YouTube — all on LTE – he found the battery remained at 100 percent!
Available for a price of $279.99, the Asus ZenPad Z8s just might be the one tablet you have been looking for!
