If you love iPhones but are on a tight budget then there’s good news for you. Remember the iPhone SE? Well, it’s finally getting a successor according to some really authentic leaks. If they’re accurate, we could be seeing the new affordable device by Q1 2020.
iPhone SE was first launched back in 2016. At that time, it was the budget iPhone with an older body of the iPhone 5S and the internals of the much more recent iPhone 6S. Back then it started at $249 for the 128GB variant, which was significantly cheaper than the more premium iPhone 6S.
Being a budget smartphone from the brand it was widely popular and ever since then, people wonder if it’ll get a successor. Sure we had the iPhone XR and now have the iPhone 11 as budget iPhones but they’re just “more affordable” compared to their flagship siblings. However, according to a tech analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, there will be a successor and it’ll start at $399.
This new device will feature the design of the iPhone 8, which seems reasonable enough and follows the same design strategy as the original iPhone SE. Also like the original iPhone SE, this one will have updated internals, this time from the iPhone 11 series. This means it’ll have an A13 Bionic CPU, which would happen to be the most powerful Apple CPU at that time. Apart from that, it is also expected to have a 3GB LPDDR4X RAM and will have a 128GB base storage.
There will be 3 color options, namely Space Grey, Silver, and Red. Kuo believes that this will be quite popular among people as it will offer the same level of performance as the current iPhones at literally a fraction of the price. In fact, this might even bring in more potential customers to Apple who, previously, couldn’t afford iPhones.
