Fortnite, after a short hiatus that lasted for a couple of days, came back with a bang with Chapter 2. The next chapter in the massively popular Battle Royale shooter brought a plethora of new changes to the table. For instance, players now have the ability to swim and ride around in boats.
However, Chapter 2 also brought the biggest change that has come to Fortnite in years, a new map. The map in Fortnite Chapter 2 is arguably much more complex as compared to the previous one thanks to some new terrain features.
The star of the show here is obviously the system of rivers and lakes that cut through the map like a nervous system. This and some other changes like the ability to hide have obviously changed the overall meta of the game.
So, in order to get back to the top, you need to relearn some things and adjust your game. The first step towards getting there is obviously going to be finding the optimal spot to land at. So, here are some of the best spots for landing in Fortnite Chapter 2 for some decent starting loot and positioning.
1. Slurpy Swamp
Located in the southwest corner of the map, the Slurpy Swamp is one of the best places to drop in Fortnite Chapter 2. It has plenty of weapons and shields dotted around so you won’t have trouble finding any good weapons during the early game. In addition to that, Slurpy Swamp also has an abandoned factory in the middle with plenty of Slurp Juice lying around. The swamp also contains a number of glowing pools for you to stand in for some extra and easy health and shield.
Furthermore, the whole area is littered with upgrade benches as well. The location of the Slurpy Swamp is also very convenient for the overall game strategy since it is near the water and connects very well to the rest of the map if you want to use a boat.
However, one downside of Slurpy Swamp is the fact that it can be a highly saturated zone sometimes meaning you might have to get into some early fights. You’re going to be set for the rest of the match if you do come out on top in those initial fights though.
Everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 2
2. Frenzy Farm
Located slightly to the northeast of the center of the map, Frenzy Farm is a Fortnite builder’s dream. It is a spiritual successor to the Fatal Fields in Chapter 1. A lot of people avoid Frenzy Farm because it has so many hiding spots that you could get ambushed from anywhere.
However, the higher risk comes with a higher reward. The Farm has a lot of wooden and metallic structures around in the form of barns and farming equipment. So, you could harvest all of that for tons of wood and metal.
In addition to materials, the Frenzy Farm, as i previously mentioned, also has many hiding spots in it. Since it is in the middle of the map, you can just hide around and wait for players making their way to the middle from the edges of the map. The Farm is also especially good for ambushing because of the respawn van located in it, meaning you could revive your downed teammates on the go and pounce on others trying to do the same simultaneously.
3. Sweaty Sands
Sweaty Sands might seem like a remote and empty spot with nothing but water on the northwestern corner of the map but don’t let that fool you, this place has a ton of potential to be the best landing spot out there. Firstly, the entire area has a lot of smaller buildings with tons of loot chests.
The weapons dotted around Sweaty Sands are also plenty. If you lean more towards the building side of the game, there are also tons of materials including wood, stone and metal on display here making it a perfect area for most people.
However, Sweaty Sands also boasts a ton of depth in other areas. For instance, the beaches that seemingly look empty also have loot chests buried around them. In addition to that, the area also has an upgrade station. And, finally, for getting out, Sweaty sands is connected to the river system and has a boat lying around for you to make your great escape on.
4. Craggy Cliffs
Craggy Cliffs is an area that is better suited for those that tend to have a much more passive playing style. Located in the northern edge of the map, Craggy Cliffs is usually not crowded at the start of the matches meaning you could easily roam around the area and scavenge for loot. However, that does mean that the loot isn’t as good as the riskier areas but it is still decent enough to be carried into the middle stages of the match.
This area is especially good for players who want to win games but aren’t exactly the sharpest shooters around. It allows players to gradually develop their arsenal and also survive for much longer during matches, increasing the chances of winning.
Craggy Cliffs also has an upgrade bench to get your initial weapons up to match winning standards. Furthermore, the area has a boat lying around in the river connecting to the rest of the map for a quick escape during the later stages of the match.
5. Retail Row
If you’re up for risking it all during the early game, Retail Row is the spot for you. Located in the southeastern segment of the map, Retail Row offers some of the most intense early game battles and is usually very highly saturated at the start.
However, higher risk also means greater rewards so, if you do manage to get through those initial fights, you’ll have plenty of loot to last you throughout the rest of the match.
Retail Row is also very popular due to the fact that it is a familiar area from the previous chapter and the layout has been etched into the players’ memories. However, if you’re a relatively newer player and don’t know the place inside out, you’re better off avoiding the area as the odds would probably be against you during gunfights.
And, there you have it; these are some of the best places to drop at currently in Fortnite Chapter 2. However, at the end of the day, there is no hard and fast rule about which place is better than the other as they all come with their own perks. So, if you’ve found any other spot to be luckier for you in terms of winning games, stick to that!
