Masterchef star John Torode had a “lucky escape” according to his girlfriend, before being rushed to hospital on Boxing Day after suffering injuries in some sort of mystery accident.
Lisa Faulkner, 44, said her partner, 51, was now “very bruised”. However, she declined to say exactly what had happened. The celebrity chef was bluelighted to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, on Boxing Day after a freak accident while the couple were enjoying a romantic festive break in the capital.
Ms Faulker has posted a photo on her instagram of Mr Torode in his hospital bed, connected to medical equipment. She captioned the image: “Thank you so very much to the lovely docs and nurses yesterday at St Marys Hospital Paddington for looking after my johntorodecooks who is very bruised but doing well.” She also said “Lucky escape” and “blessed”. Fans have been wishing him a speedy recovery.
The hospital stay followed a post from Mr Torode which revealed he was having a break with his partner at plush Claridges hotel in Mayfair. He said she was “happy as a happy thing on happy days” being able to spend Christmas at Claridges.
Festive break
Before the accident, the loved up couple had been sharing photos of their festive holiday. They had previously been to London’s Winter Wonderland, which they said was the best Christmas Eve Eve. Ms Faulkner and Mr Torode live together in North London. They met six years ago when she was the winner of Celebrity MasterChef. Ms Faulker split from her husband and Mr Torode had split from his own wife a year previously.
The pair have previously said that they have a very relaxed relationship and, even though they are both keen chefs, they never interfere with what the other is cooking. They say they take turns so that while one is cooking, the other is having a glass of wine and chatting.
