Valheim requires players to defeat five distinct bosses to progress in the game. While the first boss, Eikthyr, is relatively easy to beat, players may encounter a more difficult challenge when confronting the second boss, the Elder. Valheim’s Black Forest biome harbors the Elder, the game’s main boss characterized as a colossal tree entity with formidable abilities.

Novice players may find it challenging to defeat the Elder in Valheim, as this boss represents a significant increase in difficulty compared to previous adversaries.

The Elder has a variety of attacks at its disposal, including a powerful stomp and a barrage of root whips that can strike from a distance. Moreover, the boss can summon numerous root whips throughout the battlefield, creating a chaotic environment that can overwhelm the player from all sides.

Despite its early access release, Valheim remains widespread, and the game’s arrival on Xbox has attracted a host of new players eager to take on all of the game’s challenging bosses.

Compared to Eikthyr, whose health is only 500, the Elder has an astonishing 2,500 health, making it vital for players to upgrade their weapons and armor to have a chance of defeating it. However, players can still face the Elder alone and succeed if they prepare themselves adequately.

To confront the Elder confidently in Valheim, players must obtain an abundance of bronze armor and weaponry upgrades. It includes wearing a bronze plate cuirass, bronze plate leggings, a bronze helmet, and using a bronze buckler to enhance their defense against the colossal tree adversary. Despite the usefulness of the bronze pickaxe as the game progresses, players must prioritize protection to ensure success in facing the Elder.

Players can also produce minor stamina potions using a similar technique to little healing potions. The only difference is the set of ingredients required. To create the stamina-boosting brew, the player must gather 10 units of honey, 10 raspberries, and 10 yellow mushrooms, which can be discovered in the Black Forest dungeons.

The next step involves mixing these ingredients in a cauldron and allowing them to ferment for two in-game days to produce the desired potion.

To confront the Elder, players must first discover its altar and perform a proper summoning ritual. It entails finding the altar, procuring the appropriate sacrifice, and being well-equipped with upgraded armor, weapons, potions, and a hearty meal.

Players must first locate and defeat Greydwarf shamans and spawners to acquire the Ancient Seeds, collecting the seeds they drop, and then gather and present the Seeds to the fire at the Elder’s altar to initiate the summoning ritual.

It’s worth noting that players should avoid killing regular Greydwarves, as they do not drop Ancient Seeds, and instead focus their efforts on finding and defeating the shamans and spawners.

For optimal chances of success, players should choose the early morning as the best time to take on the Elder. It is because, during the night, the Black Forest can be filled with Greydwarves, which can pose a significant distraction and obstacle during the fight.

By starting the battle early in the day, players can minimize the likelihood of being ambushed by Greydwarves and focus their attention on the Elder.

During the battle, players can seek shelter behind the pillars of the Elder’s altar to avoid taking damage from the roots or to recharge their stamina. The posts are indestructible, making them a secure location for players. It is recommended that players continue attacking the Elder while seeking cover as necessary. Once players have defeated the Elder, they can acquire the Valheim Swamp Key and improve their equipment by upgrading to iron.
