Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke and his ex wife Paula Patton have gone to their first counselling session with their son. The actress accused her former husband of making his son Julian scared of him by spanking him.
The singer and the actress have now attended therapy because they want to put their son’s interests first, ahead of any disagreements between themselves. Ms Patton put forward action to try to restrict Mr Thicke’s contact with the little boy, after he told his school that his father spanked him with “excessive force”.
According to a source close to the family, Julian is in his mother’s care while the family seek the help of a therapist. The session comes after Mr Thicke called police, claiming that his former wife had breached custody arrangements.
Welfare concerns
However, he is understood to have left her Malibu home, even though he attended with police, without his son. Ms Patton is said to have been concerned about Julian’s welfare when with his father. She had asked a court to limit Mr Thicke’s custody to daytime monitored visits. But a court refused her request.
According to reports when police when into Ms Patton’s home to talk to her son, he told officers he was worried about going with his father and the deputies told Mr Thicke that they would not force the little boy to leave with him. It is understood that the former couple are busy trying to reach a middle ground so they can sort out their custody problems.
Previously Julian is believed to have told officials at school that his father spanked him on a number of occasions and that his father had punched him. The school then reported what he had said to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), who opened an investigation.
