Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallcher has denied being drunk after many viewers pointed out that she was slurring her words while fronting a tea time show.
The 40 year old presenter then collapsed in a studio corridor during an advertising break. It came quarter of the way through what should have been an hour long show for her, which she was presenting alongside her fellow anchor Jim White
The mother of two had earlier posted images to her social media which showed her having a night out. And, while many viewers started commenting on Twitter that she was showing the ill effects of having enjoyed a Christmas party, a representative of the popular presenter said she was suffering from a combination of extreme exhaustion and a viral infection.
In a statement, her spokesperson said: “She categorically was not drunk. Blood and urine tests at hospital showed no alcohol in her system. She was just feeling terrible on her way to work. Doctors think it’s extreme exhaustion mixed with a viral infection. She was absolutely taken under by it.”
Ms Gallacher is understood to have been unconscious for some time before paramedics were called and she was taken to hospital. According to a source, the presenter had not been feeling well earlier in the day, but wanted to continue.
However, within minutes of her going on air, it became apparent that she was not coping. While many pointed out that she could be hungover, others were much more sympathetic and wished her a speedy recovery. She has since tweeted her thanks to wellwishers, saying how horrible it was to be ill live on TV.
Ms Gallacher is usually renowned for being fit and healthy, and has often spoken about how important her health regime is to her to be able to cope with a high pressure job.
