As stated by Mitsuri Wakeii, the Program Manager, the CX-90 will take the place of the CX-9 in Mazda’s lineup. The change was necessary to meet the demands of North American customers, who felt the CX-9 was too small and cramped in the third-row seating. Here are the amazing features of the upcoming 2024 Mazda CX-90 Three-Row SUV.
Broader Central Console.
The CX-90, which is larger than the Mazda CX-9 crossover, features a wider center console. This extra space has allowed the designers to place the cup holders on the right of the shifter instead of behind it in the CX-9.
Defensive Features:
The new 2024 CX-90 will have i-ActivSense safety suite. Moreover, Mazda also declares that the CX-90 will have enhanced driver support systems. Although details have not been provided yet, the top model will have a button for activating advanced driving technology. The CX-90 is expected to improve upon its Traffic Jam Assist capabilities, offering semi-autonomous support with advanced cruise control and lane-keeping systems at faster speeds.
Flexible Seating Arrangement:
The Mazda CX-90 offers flexibility in seating arrangements, with the option of captain’s chairs, a middle-row bench seat, and a two- or three-seat bench in the back. It allows the vehicle to accommodate anywhere from six to eight passengers, depending on the specific model. Although, the third row may not be as roomy as other three-row SUVs on the market.
Innovative Features:
The Mazda CX-90 has an infotainment system, the Mazda Connect, measuring 12.3 inches, placed on the dashboard above a hazard flasher button which is awkwardly positioned. The CX-90 also includes a new camera system, referred to as the See-Through View. According to Mazda, the See-Through View camera system is beneficial for parking.
Longitudinal Engine:
The Mazda CX-90 is an entirely new model built from scratch and does not utilize the Skyactive platform currently used in all Mazda. Mazda has not only updated the architecture for the CX-90, but created a completely new one that sets it apart from its competition. The CX-90 features a longitudinal engine placement that results in a rear-driven bias and balanced weight distribution. This new architecture has the capability to deliver exceptional ride quality, nimble handling, and prompt responses that surpass those of other vehicles in its class.
Unique Appearance
The new platform of the Mazda CX-90 results in a unique appearance, with its elongated hood and situated cabin known as “traditional rear-drive proportions,” giving it a sporty and commanding appearance, exceptionally when equipped with the optional 21-inch wheels. The CX-90 is the first vehicle to feature the Artisan Red shade, which is part of Mazda’s Takuminuri paint collection. The richness and intensity of the color emphasize the vehicle’s contours and ensure that it will be noticeable. Mazda’s exterior design group has been very successful in recent models. This new color is another success with added features such as the updated grille badge featuring more angles in the logo.
Mazda has offered a nearly complete preview of the interior of the upcoming CX-90 SUV, showcasing a focus on minimalism and a premium feel. Mazda is well known for creating high-end interiors, as demonstrated in vehicles like the CX-5, and the CX-90 will hopefully surpass its previous achievements.
Prices:
It has yet to be determined whether the Mazda CX-90 will completely replace the CX-9 or not. It is expected to be priced higher, with a starting price of around $45,000 compared to the current price of $38,750 for the CX-9.
Competitors:
There are various competitors in the market, including the Kia Telluride, a highly-rated three-row SUV. The Telluride has 291 horsepower, which may be less robust, but its starting price of $35,890 is more affordable than the CX-90. However, the base model of the Telluride may have a different level of features than the CX-90. It also applies to the Hyundai Palisade, which shares many components with the Kia Telluride. The CX-90 has a higher target, and top-level versions could compete with premium crossover vehicles.
