The full release of Everspace 2, a visually stunning space shooting game developed by Rockfish Games, has been announced. After leaving early access, it will be available for PC through Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store. As the full release of Everspace 2 approaches, Rockfish Games has released the final update in early access. This update includes the addition of “Ancient Rifts,” offering a challenging endgame experience and legendary items for players to uncover. You can view a trailer for the Ancient Rifts update below.
The CEO and Co-Founder of Rockfish Games, Michael Schade, believes that “Ancient Rifts” to Everspace 2 showcases the game’s tremendous potential and places it among the top space action games to be released in 2023. The “Ancient Rifts” was created to recapture the thrilling mechanics and addictive gameplay that fans loved from the first Everspace. Schade is eager to release the full version of Everspace 2, which will offer a unique blend of high-energy action gameplay, extensive space exploration, various activities, and a captivating campaign set in a breathtaking zero-gravity environment.
Michael Schade, CEO of Rockfish Games, said Everspace 2 is their most demanding and extensive project. It has been under development for five years, with two being spent in the early access phase. Players, both old fans and newcomers to the series, will experience an exhilarating adventure with intense space battles and breathtaking handcrafted deep space and planetary environments to discover.
In Everspace 2, players have the ability to set the level of difficulty before embarking on a journey through Ancient Rifts. Like the original Everspace, players can adjust the difficulty level, now known as “Lunacy,” before entering a multi-staged rift. The separate portals offer various modifiers that lead to different stages, allowing players to create personalized challenges. Taking on more significant challenges will lead to better rewards, including a higher likelihood of obtaining legendary items and improved loot.
Here is a list of all the fresh content in the Ancient Rifts update for Everspace 2.
Revamped Level Adjustment
“We’ll start by tackling the main issue at hand! Some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the level scaling, especially in the game’s early stages. While some enjoy a challenge no matter where they go and find battling low-level opponents without valuable rewards uninteresting, others enjoy defeating space villains after gaining a few levels and are disappointed if the enemies keep pace with them. We understand these perspectives.”
Ancient Rifts
The Ancient Rifts feature in Everspace 2 aims to recapture the thrilling and demanding gameplay elements of the first Everspace game. Players can access multi-stage rifts that become progressively more challenging and with a chance to receive a legendary item upon the defeat of the final stage boss. The player can choose their difficulty level by ramping up the Lunacy setting before opening the rift and selecting a portal with varying modifications for the next stage. The higher the risk, the greater the rewards, including an increased chance for legendary items and better loot.
The launch date for Everspace 2:
Everspace 2 is set to be fully released on PC on April 6, 2023, and will be available through various platforms, including Steam, GOG, and Microsoft Store. The developers at Rockfish Games have stated that the cost of the game will increase before its full release due to the increased content and improvements made during early access. On February 20, the price of Everspace 2 will go up from $39.99 to $49.99 in the US, from £31.99 to £44.99 in the UK, and €38.99 to €49.99 in Europe. However, those interested in purchasing the game still have a chance to do so at the original, lower price before the increase takes effect.
Before the full release of Everspace 2, the development team is working on adding even more features to the game, such as additional enemies, rewards, challenges, improved cinematics, and boss fights. They have one final surprise in store: the inclusion of a new companion and a unique star system at launch.
Everspace 2 is a continuation of the game Everspace, which debuted on computer platforms in 2017, with versions for console systems arriving in 2018. The sequel raised funds through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2019. A significant update to the early access version is slated for November 2021, which will introduce the Khaït Nebula, a fourth star system, new alien life forms, artifacts, a subsidiary faction, a new companion, and additional elements.
