Destiny 2 fans have access to a lot of fresh content following the recent release of Lightfall. They can enjoy a new campaign, explore a new destination, face a new raid, and immerse themselves in a whole season’s worth of exciting content.
The latest Season of Defiance is located on Earth and requires players to work with Mara Sov to rescue hostages held by the Shadow Legion. Defiant Keys, a unique currency that works differently from previous seasons, has been introduced as part of the new season. This guide will provide players with detailed instructions on how to obtain Defiant Keys and understand their significance.
Destiny 2 enthusiasts can collect Defiant Keys using various methods. Players can earn four Defiant Keys by reaching Rank 2, Rank 12, Rank 52, and Rank 92 in the Season Pass, but they cannot solely rely on the Season Pass to obtain Defiant Keys.
According to the game, Defiant Keys can be acquired by completing any activity in Destiny 2, including Vanguard Ops playlists, Crucible matches, Gambit matches, weekly Campaign missions, Terminal Overload, and raids. Unlike previous Seasons, acquiring Defiant Keys is not necessary to progress through the game’s story, which was not the case with currency like Seraph Key Codes and Map Fragments in prior Seasons. However, Defiant Keys’ low drop rate makes obtaining them a challenge.
Players must understand that accumulating Defiant Keys requires considerable effort as there is no guarantee of acquiring them. As a result, players must put in some work to stock up on Defiant Keys.
One of the most efficient ways for players to obtain Defiant Keys in Destiny 2 is to farm them from Terminal Overload, which is currently regarded as the best method. A glitch in the game allows players to exploit the reward chest and increase their chances of getting Defiant Keys. Certain Crucible modes like Mayhem and Team Scorched are quick to complete and can also help players get Defiant Keys.
Another option is to unlock the Queensguard’s Arsenal upgrade from the War Table, which gives players a chance to earn a key whenever they focus on a weapon from the Season of Defiance.
Since players tend to focus on firearms frequently in Destiny 2, this upgrade is quite helpful. However, since the current Season is in its early stages, players need not worry about farming too many keys as they will accumulate enough before the next Season.
Defiant Keys have a specific role to play in the Defiant Battlegrounds playlist and can only be used in this activity. Once players finish the new seasonal training, a chest will appear near the prisoners’ position, and they must open it like any other chest in Destiny 2.
However, unlike the previous season, Defiant Keys do not unlock an extra chest in this situation. Once players loot the chest, the Defiant Key will be consumed automatically, and it will be removed from their inventory.
When the Defiant Key is employed, it substantially improves the rewards that players receive. Therefore, for players of Destiny 2 who want to obtain the best rewards available in the Season of Defiance via Defiant Battlegrounds, it is advised that they collect as many Defiant Keys as possible.
Destiny 2 players can only carry up to five Defiant Keys at a time. However, there is a chance to acquire additional keys while using up the ones you already have. Unfortunately, there are no vendor upgrades to increase the maximum number of Defiant Keys that can be held simultaneously. Still, the Queensguard Vows nodes in the Upgrades table provide some ways to enhance their effectiveness or access more key sources.
