I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here contestant and former Countdown host Carol Vorderman has been named as the UK’s favourite Fifty Plus Beach Body – ahead of Hollywood A listers Halle Berry and Goldie Hawn.
Ms Vorderman, who showed off her curves in the Australian jungle during I’m a Celebrity, is 56, but still has the figure of a woman half her age. Meanwhile, Bond girl Halle Berry came in second, followed by Helen Mirren, and then Goldie Hawn. She also pipped older sex symbols Elle McPherson, Sharon Stone, Christie Brinkley, Jane Seymour and Bo Derek to the title.
Ms Vorderman has said in previous interviews, that she feels sexier than ever before since she turned 50. She said that women “of a certain age” are redefining what their lives are, having been part of a generation which pioneered changes in the female role.
She said her own mother had warned her that life went downhill from the age of 50, but that she did not agree at all. Ms Vorderman may, however, find that she has strong competition for the title next year, as celebrities turning 50 during 2017 including Australian actress Nicole Kidman, Pretty Woman’s Julia Roberts, Baywatch’s Pamela Anderson and television host Ulrika Jonsson
With age comes confidence
A spokesman for JD Williams, which commissioned the research, said that with age came greater confidence, adding that it was great to see women aged 50 and over having the confidence to wear bikinis. They added: “How you look on the beach is not about how young or thin you are but about having the confidence in yourself to work the trend – and prove that the bikini has no age limits.”
Since wowing fans in I’m a Celebrity, Ms Vorderman has had to deal with some unwanted attention from over eager men on Twitter.
