Chained Echoes is a story-driven JRPG game with 16-bit style visuals and turn-based combat. It is about a group of heroes traveling around the vast continent of Valandis to bring an end to the war between its three kingdoms.
In the game, you see a boss character named Gin, or Djinn, can be encountered in Leviathan’s Trench, adding to the overall immersive gameplay. This magical creature, categorized as an Ethereal-Type, is a formidable foe that must be defeated during the Kindreld Monastery quest for players to progress out of the cave.
Gin Djinn presents a substantial challenge for inexperienced players due to his formidable HP of 5000 and his skill in manipulating different elements.
To overcome this difficulty, a practical guide has been provided to equip players with the necessary knowledge and skills to defeat Gin Djinn successfully.
Since Gin has a unique ability to alter his elemental attributes during battle, players must exploit his fundamental weaknesses to defeat him using the element that counters his current feature. For example, players should use Water against Gin’s Fire attribute, Wind against his Water attribute, Earth against his Wind attribute, and Fire against his Earth attribute.
This strategy is vital in overcoming Gin’s elemental manipulation abilities and succeeding in the battle.
Lenne’s importance in the Gin Djinn boss fight lies in the fact that the boss changes color and element according to the player’s attacks. The player needs to keep track of the boss’s color and its corresponding weakness throughout the fight. The boss’s weakness changes as it changes color. The player must exploit this weakness to inflict maximum damage.
The boss’s attacks hit all party members. They lowered their resistance to the corresponding element, making it crucial to avoid being hit by the same piece twice in a row. This boss’s attacks are relatively straightforward, making the fight more of a gimmick. However, it is essential to be cautious and strategic to avoid taking excessive damage.
The first phase of the Gin boss fight in Chained Echoes requires players to concentrate on using Water-Type attacks. To begin with, Gin attacks using Fire skills, making him weak to Water. A helpful tactic is to apply pressure on Gin by using Lenne’s Water Thrust ability while simultaneously using Silph’s Fan item to inflict the “Dry” status.
By employing this tactic, players can take advantage of Gin’s vulnerability to Water and improve their prospects of defeating him.
As players advance to phase two of the Gin boss fight in Chained Echoes, they must switch to Wind-Type magical strikes.
After defeating Gin’s Fire element, he shifts to Water, making Wind attacks the most effective against him. Victor’s Pressure Point and Lenne’s Wind Thrust are the recommended skills to use in this phase, and players can boost Gin’s susceptibility to Wind by using the Wterbomb item.
Players must employ Earth-Type moves to successfully defeat Gin in the third phase of the boss fight in Chained Echoes. With Gin changing his element to Wind in this stage, he becomes vulnerable to Earth attacks. Victor’s Earth Drum and Lenne’s Terra are recommended skills, and players can increase the damage dealt to Gin by using the Bolas item, which takes advantage of his susceptibility to Earth.
By adopting this strategy, players can effectively overcome Gin’s elemental strengths and advance through the battle more efficiently.
For the final phase, Players must use Fire-Type skills to successfully defeat Gin Djinn. Once Gin Djinn changes his element to Earth, players can exploit his weakness using Fire-based attacks. A combination of Oil Lamb, Glenn’s Oil Slash, and Lenne’s Fire Thrust is recommended to deal the most damage as it offers the highest DPS.
Players should also consider using Glenn’s Ultra Move on Gin, as it drains his HP rapidly. Players can exploit Gin’s elemental weakness by implementing this strategy and finishing him in the battle.
After defeating Gin Djinn in the boss battle, players will receive a reward of 5 SP and a Grimoire Shard. To make the fight more accessible, it is suggested to use debuff techniques such as Glenn’s Armor Break, Kylian’s Leg Aim, and Robb’s Poison in the early stages to decrease Gin Djinn’s strength.
As the battle progresses, more aggressive actions like Lenne’s Fire or Water Thrust and Glenn’s Power Swing are considered better options for maximum damage to Gin Djinn.
Gin Djinn has a very high HP which can be challenging for players who are fans of classic JRPGs. Defeating him can take about 70 basic moves, so players should use Critical, Combo, and Weakness attacks to defeat him faster.
One effective strategy is to use items that increase Gin’s vulnerabilities, such as Silph’s Fan, which inflicts the Dry status and boosts the Water DPS against him. However, if the player struggles to defeat him, they can try using SP and upgrading their weapons before trying again.
