Whenever someone mentions the top Battle Royale games, you think of Fortnite, or Warzone, or PUBG. Apex Legends, however, despite its incredible launch, has somewhat faded into the 2nd tier of the Battle Royale genre. This is unfortunate since Respawn has been updating the game with new exciting content. Not only that but Apex Legends is still a fantastic and solid game with a uniqueness that no other game offers.
Having said that, it seems like the gaming industry as a whole has moved on from the genre. And, as a consequence, great games like Apex Legends have fallen out of the active video game culture discussions. Nonetheless, it’s not like Apex Legends has disappeared from the face of this world. In fact, the game is still quite popular and has a great community around it.
The Respawn team has added new characters, locations, and even game modes to the Apex Legends. With that said, since Respawn is still a relatively smaller team as compared to the giants like Epic or the collection of Call of Duty teams under Activision, they cannot match the content pacing of those bigger teams. So, their slower pace is justified. Furthermore, Apex Legends is still doing incredibly well as compared to the likes of Hyperscape.
Apex Legends is having issues after the latest update
Regardless of what anyone might say though, Respawn continues to bring exciting new content to Apex Legends and the battle royale hero shooter is here to stay for the long haul. However, despite its greatness, the game’s netcode has been described as iffy by players. And, with the last few updates, things have gotten worse, especially in the bugs department.

According to players, Apex Legends has now fallen victim to the same issues that plague Call of Duty: Warzone. You can get kicked out of a match for no reason and sometimes, errors prevent you from ever jumping into the game at all.
The new error that has surfaced after the last update is called Error Code: Wheel. The error has been described as the successor to the previously game-breaking error called Leaf. This error essentially prevents you from jumping into the game and shows up during the legend selection screen. The game crashes as soon as it shows up and you have to relaunch it. However, the frustrating part is that some players have not been able to get into a game at all and have repeatedly received the error while trying to join a game.
The actual reason behind this new error is still unknown and while Respawn has acknowledged its existence, the actual fix is still nowhere on the horizon. Some users on the internet, however, have managed to find some fixes to the Error Code: Wheel in Apex Legends. So, we’ve compiled together a list of potential fixes that may help you with getting rid of the Error Code: Wheel in Apex Legends.
1. Verify Integrity of Apex Legends game files on PC:
A lot of people claim that the Wheel error in Apex Legends has started to show up and crash games due to a fault within the game files themselves. Since it comes up during the legend selection screen, this means that there might be a corrupted legend animation file or something similar that triggers the crash. There are various reasons for such file corruption as a lot of times, these files can be downloaded incorrectly during an update or it could be an error on Respawn’s part. Nevertheless, this means that you’d have to get rid of the corrupted file and redownload it.
Thankfully, you don’t have to delete and download the entire game again for this fix. EA’s origin launcher allows players to run a file integrity scan that goes through the game files and finds all the anomalies to fix them. So, in order to fix the wheel error in Apex Legends, all you have to do is launch the file verification utility in the Origin launcher. Here’s how to do that:
- Launch the EA Origin launcher and find Apex Legends in your games library.
- Right-click the game and find the option called ‘Repair’ in the drop-down menu.
- Run the scan and wait for it to finish. EA Origin will automatically detect any corrupted Apex Legends files and download them automatically. Once the process is finished, you can launch the game again.
2. Turn on QoS in your router settings:
Many people have also claimed that the Error Code: Wheel in Apex Legends doesn’t appear due to corrupted game files at all. Instead, the reason why it crashes the game has more to do with your internet settings and the server connection. So, in a way this error is more related to the server connection failure rather than something within the game files. One of the main reasons for a weak server connection is your own router’s inability to direct and prioritize traffic.
If you’re running on Wi-Fi, you should hardwire via an ethernet cable instead. If you’re unable to do that, you need to make sure that your gaming PC or console gets the priority when it comes to sending and receiving data packets. Usually, when there are multiple devices connected to the same router, the connection bandwidth can get bogged down. However, things like video streaming don’t need a high-priority connection to function well but games do. So, most modern routers come with a feature called QoS (or Quality of Service).
Enabling QoS:
Quality of Service is a tool that tells the router to prioritize traffic to and from a specific device so it can run with the lowest possible latency while other devices are also connected. In order to turn on QoS in your router, follow these steps:
- Enter the default gateway of your router into a browser and head to the router settings.
- Access the settings by putting in the username and password that you’ll find on the back of your router.
- Once you’re in, head into network tools (or similar) and look for a thing called Quality of Service.
- Enable QoS and under QoS rules list, find and select your connected PC or console. If you’re unable to find your device, you can also manually write the MAC address to add it to the list.
- Now set the device to the highest priority.
