AMD’s new Ryzen 3 4300G Renoir APU targets DIY market

The AMD Ryzen 4000G processor, also known as the Renoir APU, was initially launched in 2020 but was primarily marketed to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for use in pre-built computers.

However, AMD has now decided to release the same processor for the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) segment, which means it will be available for consumers who want to build their PC.

This decision to offer the Ryzen 3 4300G APU to the DIY market suggests a possible excess of these chips in their warehouses that were not sold to OEMs. AMD may have decided to release these chips to the DIY market to remove excess inventory and generate additional revenue.

The Ryzen 4000G processor is expected to have a price of 15,800 Yen in Japan, which roughly translates to $115 US, including tax. This price point is relatively low for a processor with the capabilities of the Ryzen 4000G, which features integrated Radeon graphics and can deliver strong performance for gaming and productivity tasks.

AMD‘s decision to release the Ryzen 4000G processor to the DIY market is likely a strategic move to generate additional revenue and clear out excess inventory while also providing consumers with an affordable and high-performing processor option for their DIY PC builds.

The Ryzen 3 4300G APU is an entry-level processor designed for consumers looking for a budget-friendly CPU that can handle basic computing tasks such as web browsing, email, and light productivity workloads. It features four cores and eight threads, sufficient for multitasking and running basic applications.

The processor has a maximum boost clock of 4.0 GHz and a base clock of 3.8 GHz. This means it can deliver decent performance for basic tasks without too much power.

The AMD Ryzen 3 4300G APU features a hierarchical cache structure with a total L3 cache of 4 MB, a 2 MB L2 cache, and a 256 KB L1 cache. The cache sizes help to improve the processor’s performance by reducing latency and increasing data access speeds.

The default TDP (thermal design power) of the Ryzen 3 4300G APU is 65 watts, which is relatively low compared to other processors in its class. The processor has a configurable TDP that can be adjusted within a range of 45 to 65 watts.

This allows users to adjust the processor’s power consumption to meet their needs.

The AMD Ryzen 3 4300G APU is a budget-friendly processor suitable for entry-level users looking for a reliable and energy-efficient processor. It may not be ideal for more demanding gaming or video editing applications, but it can easily handle basic computing tasks.

The new Radeon Graphics, utilizes the TSMC 7nm FinFET process technology and is designed with the “Renoir” Zen 2 architecture, which provides better efficiency and performance than its predecessor. This makes it an excellent option for entry-level computing tasks using less power.

It utilizes the AM4 CPU socket and can operate at a maximum temperature of 95°C. The chip is compatible with multiple operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), RHEL x86, and Ubuntu x86, all in the 64-bit edition.

This makes it a versatile option for users who need a processor that can run on different platforms.

It also supports PCIe 3.0 and DDR4-3200 system memory with dual memory channels for connectivity. The integrated Radeon Graphics has a core count of 6 and a graphics frequency of 1700 MHz. This allows the processor to handle basic gaming and multimedia tasks but may struggle with more demanding applications such as video editing and 3D rendering.

Despite being listed as an unlocked processor for overclocking, the AMD Ryzen 3 4300G APU may not be able to achieve the same level of overclocking performance as other modern entry-level processors due to its lower base clock speed and fewer cores. For example, the Ryzen 7 3700X can achieve almost double the benchmark scores compared to the Ryzen 3 4300G APU.

The Ryzen 3 4300G APU may not match the performance of more powerful processors, but it can still provide satisfactory performance for home-based users who need to perform basic computing tasks like word processing and internet browsing.

With its budget-friendly price point and energy-efficient design, the Ryzen 3 4300G APU is a great option for those looking for an affordable processor. It will be available in Asian markets starting on March 10th, providing an accessible option for users on a budget.
