Call of Duty is the largest video game franchise worldwide, and it returned this year with the release of Modern Warfare. Despite finishing the main story, there is still ample content that can keep players entertained for extended periods.
Warzone 2.0, the successor to the popular Battle Royale game Warzone, is coming sooner than expected. Infinity Ward created Warzone, but after they began working on Modern Warfare II (2022), the development was transferred to Raven Software, which now has complete control over its creative direction. The original Warzone will now be renamed Warzone Caldera, where players can continue to play on the older maps, as they will not be included in Warzone 2.
With the introduction of the first official season in the game, players can enjoy new maps, game modes, and a brand-new Battle Pass. One of the new modes is called Infected, where two teams, Survivors and Infected, compete against each other.
The Infected team is armed only with a knife, and their objective is to chase and infect all Survivors to win the game. Despite their limited weapons, they make up for it with exceptional mobility, allowing them to cover large distances quickly.
On the contrary, the Survivors are equipped with regular weapons and must try to endure and avoid being caught by the Infected.
Warzone 2.0, released in November, has experienced overwhelming success, but players have been demanding an alternate map and a beloved game mode revival. The good news is that these additions are on the way, including the Resurgence Map, which will be part of the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 updates.
Season 2 of Warzone 2.0 was initially planned to start on February 4th, but it has been pushed back to February 16th due to a decrease in player numbers and concerns raised by fans regarding the game’s state. As usual, the changes in Season 2 will not be limited to Warzone 2.0 and will also bring updates to Modern Warfare II.
Warzone 2, closely connected to Modern Warfare II, will feature some new mechanics from MWII. It has officially announced that players can swim and engage in underwater combat in Warzone. Vehicles can also be driven in or on the water, providing increased gameplay options. Players can cling to ledges while using their sidearms, and the famous Dolphin Dive will also be included.
The well-known Gulag is returning in Warzone 2, but it will now play as a 2v2 competition. Participants will have the chance to gather weapons and interact with a character named “The Jailer.” Teams can choose to battle the jailer instead of fighting each other, and if they successfully defeat the jailer, four players will be permitted to return to the main game.
In Warzone 2.0, players will encounter an array of vehicles with new mechanics. They can now fire their weapons while leaning out of vehicle windows and climb onto the roof while driving to target opponents. For the first time, the reaction of vehicles to gunfire, explosions, and other events will vary based on their armor and weight, adding a new dimension to the game.
On the Al Mazrah map, there is also a presence of an AI faction that patrols and protects certain areas called Strongholds and Black Sites. These AI soldiers will not actively pursue players, but the player can engage with them. If a player captures a Stronghold, they will receive valuable loot, including an item that grants them the ability to purchase a custom weapon for free at a buying station.
Black Sites are even more challenging than Strongholds, but the reward is worth it. Players who successfully clear a Black Site will receive a permanent Weapon Blueprint and more valuable in-game items. Access to Black Sites is limited to the first team successfully capturing one of the active Strongholds and receiving a Black Site key.
Warzone 2 will include third-person modes, similar to Modern Warfare 2. The launch of Warzone 2 will also bring new weapons; in addition, all the guns from Modern Warfare Load-outs are coming back in Warzone 2. However, you will only be able to purchase primary weapons at the buy stations.
Complete load-outs, consisting of perks and secondary weapons, will be made available to everyone in the game at the same time for free. 2.
Beware when using in-game voice chat in Warzone 2. Proximity chat is enabled, meaning that any players within your vicinity, friendly and otherwise, will be able to hear what you say through the chat feature.
Warzone 2 will be available on various platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
It is noteworthy that the updates for Call of Duty are typically divided into two parts, so while the Resurgence feature is expected to arrive, it may be available after launch.
