Call of Duty: Mobile has been out for over a year now. The game has had a healthy start to its long life and despite being touted as the underdog, it is far from that. Call of Duty: Mobile has a massive player base. It is currently sitting at number 3 behind the giants that are Fortnite and PUBG Mobile. The game managed to earn $500 million USD in its first year and that number is for the US alone.
However, Activision wants the game to be the top dog. Tencent has been injecting some seriously good content into the game and its not stopping any time soon. Recently we heard the rumors of Warzone coming to Call of Duty: Mobile. And, this is exactly what the game would need to reach the top. Since the other top 2 competitors do use their main battle royales on mobile, this strategy makes the perfect sense.
Having said that, the transition towards that future may not be as abrupt as we think. Currently, Activision has its full focus on the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. And, with the Black Ops Cold War Beta weekends coming, Activision is trying to inject content into other games to attract more attention. One of these things is the inclusion of a new agent into Call of Duty: Mobile.
Adler is coming to Call of Duty: Mobile
Today, the official Call of Duty Twitter announced that Russell Adler is coming to Call of Duty: Mobile and will be available for unlocking as soon as 8th October. If you don’t know, Russell Adler is a CIA agent in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War who will be heading the operation within the main campaign for the game. So if you’re looking forward to Black Ops Cold War, expect to see a lot of him during the main story.
According to the official blogpost, Adler is “a mystery of a man even for Black Ops, not much is known about him after finishing his tour with the MACV-SOG in Vietnam as part of the CIA. A man whose confidence is as cold as his blood, Adler can disarm you with his dry wit in one moment, then go in for the kill instantly.”
How to unlock and play as Adler?
If you want to play as Adler in Call of Duty: Mobile, there’s a catch. In order to unlock the character within the mobile game, you need to have access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta. So, the only way to unlock Adler is to play the Beta on any of the weekends and then you can redeem your reward. However, the Black Ops Cold War Beta itself has a staggered release and you getting access to it depends on your platform.
In short, if you’ve pre-ordered the game on PS4 or have a beta code, you can claim Adler as soon as the 8th of October. If you’re on the PS4 and haven’t preordered the game, you can get the new character on the 10th of October. You’ll have to sadly wait for another week if you’re on any other platform. You can check out all the Beta early access and open weekend details and release dates here.
