Call of Duty: Warzone has taken the gaming world by storm and has quickly managed to surpass most of its other rivals in the space. Initially marketed as a free-to-play battle royale game mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone has established itself as a massive separate entity over the past couple of months.
However, that does not mean that Warzone is completely different from Modern Warfare as core game mechanics are still borrowed from the parent game with some necessary tweaks. The most fascinating thing about Call of Duty: Warzone though is the way it tackles the battle royale genre and sets itself apart from the rest of the competition.
Verdansk, which is the map for Call of Duty: Warzone is one of the biggest maps in the battle royale genre and it makes good use of that size. For instance, a whopping 150 players drop into the map at the start of each map rather than the usual 100 like on other games. In addition to that, there is no shortage of variety within the map ranging from tall skyscrapers to open fields.
The best weapons and loadouts in Call of Duty: Warzone
Another thing where Call of Duty: Warzone excels a lot is its ability to utilize the map with interactable content. Players can hop on to 5 different kinds of vehicles dotted around the map, use the many buy stations around to get special killstreaks like airstrikes or to revive your friends using the cash that you’ve collected and also ammo caches for when you’re running low on ammo.
Where the game doesn’t feel much different from other similar games within the category is the distribution of loot around the map. Much like Apex Legends, Fortnite and PUBG, the loot in Call of Duty: Warzone is dotted around the map in zones and has different concentration levels despite being somewhat random.
While there is a chance that you can find good loot in a relatively barren area, the chances of getting a good gun are many times higher within the high loot areas. However, these areas do come with their own risks though since along with the loot, there’s also usually a higher concentration of players lurking around trying to find the same good loot as you are.

It is a classic case of high risk, high reward but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t risk-free areas with moderate amount of loot just enough to get you through the map until you call for a loadout drop.
So, whether you want to drop into a hot zone and find the best loot on the map or you want to stay away from the action, here are some of the best landing zones on Call of Duty: Warzone map.
1. Stadium:
The Stadium in Verdansk is one of the most favourable spots to drop at in Call of Duty: Warzone. Located slightly to the right of central point of the map, the Verdansk Stadium is a massive building that sprouts outward as much as it does upward.
With a parking area populated by cars around it, the Stadium carries a lot of good loot and contracts on its sides. In addition to that, since it is closed off and players can’t enter it, strategizing around the stadium is also easier since you only have to stick to the walls and look towards the outside region.
Another good thing about the Stadium is that it isn’t a very highly populated area meaning that you won’t encounter much resistance at the start of a match. So, this location offers a very good blend of good loot and less engagement.
2. The Dam
The Dam is one of the most popular locations in Call of Duty: Warzone solely because of the range of movement and weapon choices it presents to the players. Located in the top left corner of the map, the Gora Dam in Verdansk offers a level of verticality to players, especially to those looking to settle down into a vantage point and snipe.
Apart from the advantage of high ground, the general area around the Dam is also littered with loot. There are multiple buildings and a bridge within the surrounding region, all of them containing some very high quality loot.
Furthermore, if you want to flip the switch and get a vehicle to mount your offense, there’s plenty of choice for that here as well. The top of the dam has a truck while the bottom has a helicopter standing by for you to take control.
Furthermore, once the gas does start to hone in on the dam and you’re at the top, getting down is relatively simple and very fast so you don’t have to worry about being trapped in the gas either. So, in conclusion, the arsenal of options and choice makes the Dam one of the best drop zones in Call of Duty: Warzone.
3. Hospital
If you’re looking to drop at a location where you can find good starter loot without engaging in any conflicts, the Hospital is a good shout. Located slightly below the central point of the map, the hospital presents a fairly straightforward layout to players with predictable pathways and corridors.
This is especially good for players who are not good at landing very fast and taking control of a point early on within the game. You can safely land at the hospital and take your time collecting loot. However, you won’t find anything extraordinary here and you’ll need to get a loadout drop or look elsewhere if you intend to win a match.
Nevertheless, the top of the main hospital building also provides a good vantage point for long-ranged players as most of the other buildings in the surrounding area are below you so it can result in easy pickings.
Additionally, if you’re running out of time and need a quick getaway out of the gas, the roof of the hospital also has a chopper lying around for you to take and fly away in. Despite not being a hot zone, the hospital still provides plenty for players to have a solid foundation for the rest of the game.
4. The Airport
The Airport is arguably the most versatile location on the map of Call of Duty: Warzone. Laid out in a fashion akin to the airport in Modern Warfare 2, the Airport in the western region of Verdansk offers something for every player, whether it is close quarter combat or long-ranged fights.
The large hangers are perfect hideout spots for ambushing unsuspecting enemies and going all out in close combat while the abundance of vantage points also makes it a lucrative location for those looking to snipe from a distance.
Be wary though, things can get a little too intense at times around the Airport. However, that risk doesn’t come without its rewards though as the entire airport area has plenty of good loot that will last you throughout the match if you manage to obtain it.
Once you’ve obtained the loot though, you don’t have to run for other places either as the airport also has many places for you to camp and scout for enemies. Furthermore, the buy station out in the open can also act as a bait for you to pounce on enemies.
5. Prison Complex
The Prison in Call of Duty: Warzone is a sprawling complex with multiple entry and exit points. It is also one of the most complex points on the map with havoc and chaos almost guaranteed at the start of every single match. It has more loot than you’ll ever need and offers both close and long ranged combat options for all playing styles.
However, much like the airport, the Prison also comes with a very high risk and you’ll definitely have to fight your way through a fair amount of enemies before you can finally relax. The amount of loot that you can gather here makes it all worth the effort though.
How to fix performance issues on Call of Duty: Warzone
If you manage to land at the top of the prison first, you can easily collect loot and eliminate enemies as you make your way down. However, even if you don’t manage to be the first one to land at the top, going down and running away is easy and there are plenty of options for you to bail out of the region completely.
Since it is located in the bottom right corner of the map, the chances of the prison complex being in the centre of the circle are almost non-existent so you will have to eventually move to other locations.
Thankfully though, the prison complex has a helicopter for a swift exit. In addition to that, the port is also right next to it which is also another good location to gather more loot.
