All the iPhone users would be excited to hear that Apple might ve giving its future smartphones a glowing logo. Yes, you’ve read that right. Just like on older MacBooks, the iconic Apple logo will have the ability to light up as a notification light. How did it all come about? Let’s find out.
Just a few days ago, Apple Insider spotted a patent application published by the US Patent & Trademark Office for an external, “adjustable decoration” that can also help notify “incoming communication” or a “calendar reminder”. You can read the full application here. However, the line that intrigued us the most was, “The adjustable decoration may serve as trim for the housing or a component mounted on the housing, may include a logo, or may be used to form other visual elements”.
So, by the looks of it, Apple has finally decided to listen to its customers. The rant regarding the absence of a notification LED has been long overdue and I’m glad if it’s finally being implemented. This would also give Android fanboys one less thing to flex about as Android smartphones have had this for so many years.
It doesn’t just end there. The glowing logo was first pioneered by Apple in the MacBook series and it was one of the most aesthetically pleasing things about that device. Much to everyone’s disappointment, it was dropped off after the 2015 model year, however, now it’s being reimplemented with a much more practical purpose.
The concept of glowing logos on iPhones has been around for a while. There were many third party parts available that could help you achieve that. However, their installation involved taking apart your phone, which isn’t exactly what everyone can do, can void your warranty and mess up the water-resistant seals of your device if done incorrectly.
Once done, it does add to the customization factor, as you don’t get to do much on iPhones. Compared to Android, iOS gives you limited choices to truly make the device your own. There aren’t that many choices externally as well, except maybe with a unique case. In case this happens, then it’ll surely be welcomed by the community.
