When it comes to traveling on the go, you got to have a reliable laptop, one that you can just count on. It must have long battery life, good performance and also good color display for photography and videography.
Today we’re going to take a look at such device which is the Dell XPS 15 9570. I’ve had my hands on this laptop for about a couple of weeks and I’ve had it with me on the go here and at home.
Design:
When it comes to design, I must say that Dell XPS 9570 is a really attractive looking laptop. The chassis is made of aluminum while the inside keyboard deck is wrapped around with slightly rubberized soft-touch carbon material which feels really good.
The laptop is also really portable, it is 9.3 inches deep, 14 inches wide, and from 0.45 to .066 inches tall. It weighs around 4.25 pounds and if you go for the 4K display model the weight bumps up to 4.5 pounds.
Specification:
Now spec wise it has got the 8th Gen Core i7 8750-H CPU which is a 6 core processor and has 2 threads per core. You get 16 Gigs of RAM paired up with 256 Gigs SSD. It can also serve as a gaming laptop thanks to Nvidia GTX 1050Ti Max-Q GPU. I played some games like Fortnite and Overwatch on medium settings 1080p and was able to get around 60+ FPS easily.
Taking a look at the I/O ports; it has an HDMI, two USB 3.0, a USB Type-C, a Thunderball 3 port, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Overall, it offers decent specs which are good for both works and also some lightweight gaming.
Display:
Moving on to the display of the device, I was going for the 4k display model but I finally decided to go for the 1080p version so that I can get better battery life. It features a Dell LED, starting with its super thin “InfinityEdge” bezels around the 15.6-inch screen.
The color reproduction of this laptop is really great which really helps in editing photos and videos. Also, I stream Netflix on my laptop usually so the experience is really nice the colors are vibrant, the blacks are deep, the contrast, saturation level and dynamic range are all on point.
Also, the display gets really bright but is glossy so you might have some problem working in direct sunlight. All in all the Dell XPS 9570 checks almost all the boxes for a good display laptop.
Keyboard And Trackpad:
The keyboard is fantastic, you get actual tactile feedback while staying quiet. The key travel is really good, I was able to score 64 words per minute on 10FastFingers.com typing test. The trackpad is one of the best that I have used so far, it is not the biggest but the experience is really smooth and responsive. It supports all the latest Windows 10 Gestures like pinch to zoom, three finger swipe etc. I would say that it just feels like a smaller version of Macbook trackpad.
Battery Life:
Battery life is certainly the most important specification of a work laptop and good news with the Dell XPS 9570. We tested out this device on Laptop Mag battery test which surfs the internet continuously on 50% brightness, the laptop clocked at 13 hours which is pretty amazing and means that it will easily get you through the day. Other factors work into laptop battery life, such as driver optimization, but in the end, this is about how long you ran.
Final Verdict:
This laptop is one of the best options for photographers and videographer. You can also do some gaming on this device and if you want to go crazy with that you can hook it up with a dedicated GPU using a dock as it features Thunderbolt 3 port.
This laptop offers all, I mean from portability to performance to the great looking display. So If you are out there you looking for a laptop that doesn’t cost a fortune and still gets all the job done then make sure to check out the Dell XPS 9570. You can buy it from Amazon here.
