Looking for a cheapest current-generation gaming graphics card? If so then the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 would be the right way to go for you. It is perfect for those who are into games like CS GO, League of Legends and Dota 2. But this doesn’t mean that you can not enjoy some recent AAA titles on this GPU. Today we are going to review this graphics card and take a look at what this card is capable of. So without any further delay lets jump right into it.
Design:
We were able to get our hands on the Evga Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 SC, it is a really compact graphics measuring at just 145mm in length which makes it perfect for compact gaming rigs. The card features a single fan cooling design along with a small heatsink and comes with EVGA’s fairly plain but stylish black and grey plastic shroud. Also, the power consumption of this card is pretty low and it is rated 75 watt TDP (Thermal Design Power). This means that it does not require any additional power connector to run so you can slap it in your pre-built rig by Dell or HP that come with a low-end stock power supply and the graphics card will run fine.
Specifications:
The best thing about this graphics cars is that it is based on the Nvidia’s latest Pascal architecture and uses the GP107 GPU that is built on Samsung’s 14nm FinFET lithography process. Although it does disable one of the six SM clusters, giving it slightly less performance than the 1050 Ti.
It is the most cut down version of the Pascal chip available in the market that features just 640 CUDA cores. However, this lack of cores provide high clock speeds, it has got a base clock of 1,417 MHz and a boost clock of 1,531 MHz along with 65GT/s Texture Fill Rate.
You also get 2 Gigs of GDDR5 memory running at effective 7,008 MHz and has a 112.16 GB/s Memory Bandwidth. The input-output option include DisplayPort 1.4, DVI-D and HDMI 2.0b connectors. This graphics card also has High Dynamic Range Video support which is a really good option if you prospect for home-theatre PCs.
Performance and Benchmarks:
The Nvidia GTX 1050 provides decent performance for its price. It is an entry-level graphics card but can still play most of the recent AAA titles if you crank the graphics settings all the way down. However in less visual demanding games like CS: GO and Overwatch you can even enjoy 1440p gaming experience and will easily get more than 60 FPS. We also did some synthetic benchmarking on 3DMark: Fire Strike Extreme and the GTX 1050 managed a score of 3,201.
Final Verdict:
The Evga Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 SC is the best entry-level cars that you can get right now. It provides some amazing performance thanks to the Pascal architecture. Also, it is a very low power consuming graphics card that takes all its power from the PCI Express slot. It is the perfect low-budget- value GPU for eSports gamers.
